People often learn more about each other when they have something real to do together.

We can help plan a ranch day for a work crew, family, women’s group, organization, or group of friends. Depending on your people and what you want from the day, it may include arena riding with horses, time around the mules, a hands-on leather project, lunch, or a hike for those who would rather stay on the ground.

These days are not one-size-fits-all. We need to know your group size, riding experience, possible dates, and what you hope everyone takes home from the day.

Some horses and mules need a change of country more than they need another circle in the arena.

Bring your own horse or mule to Non-Pareil Ranch for a day of riding. You can use the ranch trails, hills, open ground, and trail obstacle course at your own pace. It is a practical way to put on some miles, learn what your animal handles well, and find the places that still need work.

Day riding is available from dawn to dusk by arrangement. A current annual waiver is required before you arrive.

Message us with the date you have in mind and how many horses or mules you are bringing.

August is almost here, and fall riding plans are closer than they feel.

If you have a beach trip, camping weekend, horse or mule show, ranch work, or mountain miles ahead, now is the time to find out what still needs work—not the week before you leave.

Jack is accepting outside horses and mules for late-summer and fall training. A stay may be 30, 60, or 90 days depending on where the animal is starting and what you need it prepared to do. Work can include groundwork, trailer loading, standing tied, leaving its buddies, gates, obstacles, rough country, and cattle exposure when appropriate.

The Cowhand Campout is not just for someone coming to the ranch alone.

Men and women are welcome, and many people make the weekend with a spouse, a friend, a grown son or daughter, or the riding partner they already enjoy spending time with.

October 23–25 includes ranch riding, cattle work, roping, the obstacle course, demonstrations, meals together, dry camping, live music under the stars, and a campfire when the weather allows. Bring your own horse or mule. A limited number of rental horses may be available, but they are not guaranteed.

A special thank-you to Nick Slater, who will be playing live for us during the weekend. The song you are hearing on this post is one of Nick’s, and we are looking forward to having him back at the ranch.

Nothing fancy—just a nice, quiet place to spend the night outside of town.

Sometimes you need a place to pull in, unload your horses or mules, feed, get some rest, and start fresh the next morning. Non-Pareil Ranch offers dry camping and outside panel pens for people traveling through or planning a short riding stay.

Water and alfalfa are available for the animals. There are no hookups, and cell service can be limited.

Send us your dates, rig size, and the number of horses or mules you are bringing before you haul so we can make sure we have room for you.

Our next silversmithing workshop is set for Saturday, August 15.

This time, we will be making a stamped sterling silver bracelet with turquoise. Each person will learn how to stamp and shape the silver, choose a turquoise stone, and bring the finished bracelet together one step at a time.

The reel you are seeing is from last month’s sterling silver and turquoise pendant workshop. Everyone began with the same basic project, but each finished pendant had its own look. That is one of my favorite parts of teaching these classes—watching each person’s ideas take shape as they work.

Instruction is hands-on, with each step broken down so you can follow along and build confidence as you go. The horses and mules may be eating nearby on the hillside, but on the porch of the saddle shop, we will be focused on learning the process and making something you will be proud to wear.

Arena work has its place. But there's a lot a horse or mule won't learn until you take them out of it.
Hills, uneven ground, water crossings, cattle, distractions, terrain that asks something of them — that's where the real picture starts to come together. Every horse and mule that comes through here gets those miles under them.
If you've got a horse or mule that's been doing arena work but hasn't had much else, it might be worth a conversation.

If you've been looking for open country to ride this summer, we've got it.
Trailer in and spend the day riding the ranch: open trails, rolling terrain, and a trail obstacle course if you want to test your horse on something different.

Come for the day or stay the night. We have plenty of room for rigs of all sizes, and camping is dry — no hookups, off grid, the way it should be.

Dogs are welcome on leash. Extra horses are welcome for an additional fee. All you need is your horse and your gear.
