A wonderful surprise today in the shop. Pianist Ian Smith and bassist Alexio Ciorra gave an impromptu performance of the first movement of Schubert’s Arpeggione Sonata, and for a few moments the showroom became a concert hall. Thank you both for sharing such beautiful music.

Today I had the pleasure of welcoming acclaimed double bassist Dominik Wagner to Kolstein Music. It was a wonderful afternoon spent exploring a variety of instruments, discussing sound, craftsmanship, and the unique personalities that each bass has to offer.

There were several instruments that really caught his attention, and it was a pleasure hearing them brought to life by such an outstanding musician. Moments like these are a reminder of why we love what we do—connecting great artists with exceptional instruments.

Congratulations to Samantha on finding her new violin!

It was such a pleasure spending time together yesterday exploring a wide variety of instruments and comparing their unique tonal colors, personalities, and playing characteristics. After trying many exceptional violins—including older European instruments and new imports—Samantha ultimately chose a modern violin that truly spoke to her both musically and personally.

One of the most rewarding parts of what we do is helping musicians discover the instrument that inspires them the most, regardless of age, origin, or label. The right instrument is the one that helps bring a player’s voice to life.

For the second photo, her friends asked if I could take a photo of me handing her the violin 😂
