One morning in the summer of 2014, Irina Rozovsky woke up in a Serbian mountain village to the sound of hundreds of trumpets as a brass band festival set up in the hills. At once pleading and tragic, joyful and frenetic, the music set the tone for what would become Rozovsky’s journey through the Balkan region, including Montenegro, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Macedonia, Croatia, Greece, Romania, Bulgaria, and Albania. Profoundly drawn to the land and its people, Rozovsky created the intimate and equivocal photographs that form Mountain Black Heart. Rozovsky’s borderless vision drifts through railways, farms, open water, parking lots, fairgrounds, and graveyards, balancing vitality and life with suggestions of dark history and subtle signs of violence. Interspersed throughout are striking portraits of people and animals which emanate vulnerability and resilience. Through its loose, expressionistic approach and a compassionate engagement with the human and natural world, Rozovsky’s nomadic project pieces together a personal and kaleidoscopic view of a fragmented place.

“In the years after I moved into a house with a back yard, I became obsessed with gardening. But it felt like a dirty secret. I spent hours digging, demolishing, and watering things, guiltily, while feeling I should be doing something else. The garden was an indulgence, a distraction from work, even as it became a kind of therapy for the anxiety I carried with me.

As the Covid lockdown began, the distinction between work and everything else suddenly collapsed. My professional life had withered, but it was spring, and the plants in my yard were beginning to grow. I found myself yearning for a sense of structure and started waking before dawn to spend the early morning outside, cutting, stacking, and pinning together mismatched materials – garden blooms, domestic objects, suburban waste - in the hope that they would remain tethered long enough to compose a picture. Building and photographing these temporary sculptures became a morning ritual, a form of work I had invented for myself and had to finish before the wind came in from the bay and the rising sun wilted whatever blossoms I had chosen to clip.

I started inserting surveillance cameras into the sculptures, imagining they possessed the optics to return my gaze. As I faced them with a moan or a scowl and documented their growth, they in turn recorded my movements and gestures. The sculptures became both subjects and witnesses.” - Carolyn Drake

Earthquake Weather is the first monograph to draw on Californian artist Colin Dodgson’s darkroom practice as a living source, across continuities that surface through drawing deep, sunburned beauty out of the flow of the everyday. Dodgson’s eye carries the dual inheritance of two formative disciplines: a surfer’s responsiveness to shifting conditions, and a darkroom photographer’s exacting precision, the two held together in constant tension against a sense of wonder, bafflement and introspection before the material of the actual.

Earthquake Weather dances along the faultlines between typology and sprawl: thumbed, dog-eared book pages worn soft by use, contemporary memento mori that turn to the material of the body and its fragility, and plastic water bottles left on Japanese roadsides all serve as allegories for the fragility of our existence. Against these lines, the sequence snaps without warning into gallows humour and back again, moving through the registers of an uncertain age: fentanyl bottles lined neatly in a row, atmospheric CO2 readings, the fringes of Dodgson’s established commercial practice, and excerpts from his frequent collaborations with the World Land Trust across areas of ecological importance.

Chronograph brings together more than twenty-five years of photographs made by photographer Nick Haymes between 2001 and 2026, assembling an immersive chronicle of life with his partner, Lina, and their two children, Philipp and Lawrence. Over 450 pages and nearly one thousand images, the book moves between Los Angeles and New York, turning Haymes’s long-term documentary practice towards those closest to him.

Approaching family life not as a sentimental saga but as something psychologically charged and contradictory, the photographs move between scenes of children, domestic interiors, bodies in motion, rough play, affection, and moments of tension. Haymes refuses to separate beauty from discomfort: innocence sits alongside recklessness, intimacy alongside unease, as children grow, relationships shift, and bodies change. His photographic language moves between documentary and carefully staged tableaux, creating images that feel both spontaneous and strangely theatrical.

For ten years, Taylor Galloway returned to the farm his grandmother’s family has tended for five generations in Hartwood, Virginia. Together, his photographs form a chorus of faces and voices whose lives have unfolded upon this land, bearing witness to a way of life on the brink of disappearance, as small independent farms across America continue to give way to industrial agriculture and development.
