Tightfisted Fashion caters to conscious individuals interested in the growing “green” and conservation movements. Tightfisted Fashion provides customers with the ability to consign clothing, shoes and accessories and other items through our retail location. We separate ourselves from other resale businesses because we employ different ways to buy, sell, trade, create, bargain and serve our community. Tightfisted Fashion believes that one can be fashionable, have variety and reflect individuality without spending a lot of money. While fashion is our focus, the tight fist also represents our strength in support of worthy causes and the community. Tightfisted Fashion seeks to build and sustain a network of resources, including but not limited to websites, bloggers, local venues, businesses, artists, other talented individuals, useful products etc. to keep a tight fist on the pulse of the community and its needs. Our company takes pride in giving back to the community. DAY 4 Wearing African Prints and Styles: ANGELINA PRINT
The iconic "Angelina" ankara fabric print (best known as the Dashiki print) was created by Dutch textile brand Vlisco in 1962. The design was inspired by the geometric embroidery and decorative borders found on traditional Ethiopian textiles and ceremonial garments. The "Angelina" print has been embraced across Africa and the Diaspora and became a symbol of Black pride, Pan-Africanism, and the Black Power movement.

DAY 3 Wearing African Prints and Styles: KENTE

Kente is a handwoven textile from Ghana, created by weaving narrow strips of cotton and silk. Traditionally worn by royalty and for important ceremonies, Kente has been adopted as the official fabric of Ghana. It's said to have been inspired by the intricate weaving of Ananse the spider.

Kente patterns and colors have specific meanings, for example:
💛 Gold = royalty, wealth, prestige
💚 Green = growth, renewal, and the land
❤️ Red = sacrifice, struggle, and spiritual power
💙 Blue = harmony, peace, and love
🖤 Black = maturity, spiritual energy, and ancestral connection

Contrary to popular belief, ankara did not originate in West Africa, but was reimagined from Indonesian batik brought over by the Dutch.

Ankara is a colorful bold wax printed fabric made from 100% cotton where each of the designs has a deeper meaning.
