Cultural Connections in the Park:
The Burnurwurbskek Singers
Wednesday, June 3, 11 am - 1 pm
Cadillac Mountain Summit

The Burnurwurbskek singers are a men’s drum group from the Penobscot Tribal Nation at Indian Island, Maine. The group has been performing traditional Wabanaki songs for audiences across Maine and other states for many years. This performance on top of Wapuwoc, or the “white mountain of the first light,” is a cultural demonstration that will captivate audience members of all ages.

Cultural Connections programs are sponsored by Dawnland, LLC and offered in partnership with the National Park Service and Abbe Museum. They are free and open to the public. Visitors require a park entrance pass and Cadillac Summit Road vehicle reservation, which are available at: www.recreation.gov

We are hiring for the 2026 Season!

04/18/2026

As of today, April 17, carriage roads are open to walkers only. All carriage roads remain closed to bicyclists.

During this period of spring thaw, the carriage roads are especially fragile and susceptible to impacts that accelerate erosion. Thank you all for helping the park to protect these special cultural resources!

The National Park Service began site work to prepare for repaving five miles of Park Loop Road.

From April 6–14 Park Loop Road will be closed to all visitors, including walkers and bikers, from the start of the one-way section to Kebo Street. Please note, the Loop Road remains closed to vehicles until April 15.

Thank you for your patience.

Starting March 19, the National Park Service will close carriage roads to all users until further notice to protect the roads during spring thaw, also known as “mud season.”

Warmer weather and wet conditions soften the carriage roads and make them susceptible to damage. Walking, bicycling and riding horses in such conditions can cause ruts and potholes that channel water and exacerbate erosion. The NPS will reopen the carriage roads once the gravel surface dries out and becomes firm enough to prevent damage. Visitors can help us protect the carriage roads for decades to come by respecting this temporary closure.

In the meantime, the NPS encourages visitors to explore Acadia’s hiking trails and Park Loop Road, which remains closed to motor vehicles until April 15. When walking or biking closed sections of the Park Loop Road, exercise caution around closed gates, watch for park vehicles or equipment, and be prepared to encounter lingering snow and ice.
