A Christian Science Reading Room is a welcoming space for people to explore Christian Science through prayer, study, reading, and asking questions.

Products available in Reading Rooms include "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" and other books by Mary Baker Eddy, the Bible, pamphlets on Christian Science, children’s Bible stories, and inspirational music. Reading Rooms also offer copies of The Christian Science Monitor, an international news publication, and the Christian Science magazines, which document how Christian Science has helped people find healing from physical and emotional challenges. All are available to read or listen, borrow, and purchase.

Some Reading Rooms host regular events, including timely discussion groups, Bible reading groups, and free public talks on Christian Science.

In 1976 the idea of women in the military was met with skepticism, and in some cases outright derision. Many believed women would never succeed in the chaplaincy, a position held only by men since 1917.

Get to know the fascinating story of Janet Horton, who was the first female Christian Science chaplain and the third woman to be admitted to the United States Army chaplaincy. Horton was told her gender and religion amounted to two strikes against her, but she wasn’t deterred.
