🌧️ A Plea to the Gods of the Sky 🌧️

Thor, I can handle the thunder. Odin, I can handle the ravens. But this endless rain? Even a Viking has his limits.

I'm trying to get some proper product photos taken for the Northern Maille website, and apparently the sun has decided to abandon Midgard entirely.

All I ask is a little sunshine, a decent stretch of daylight, and enough cooperation from the heavens to make my chainmail shine. ☀️

The website isn't going to photograph itself!

The selection is still limited for now, but this is only the beginning. I'll be adding more designs, colors, weaves, and creations as the inventory grows.

⚒️ From tiny rings to mighty chains!

Remember those itty bitty rings from the other day? Here's what they've been forged into!

A few different chain sizes, all built link by link using those little rings. It's amazing how much difference a small change in ring size can make to the finished piece.

And here's something worth pointing out: the largest-looking chain in this photo is actually the "medium" size! Just over 500 rings in the "medium" for a necklace and nearly 800 for the little one!!!

There's a lot of detail packed into these designs, and every link plays its part. That's the beauty of chainmaille!

⚒️ A new project is underway in the Northern Maille forge!

Today's work involves some itty bitty rings! 🔗

For a little perspective on just how tiny these are, the finger in the photo is my pinky! 😅

These little warriors are quite a bit smaller than what I typically work with, but even the smallest links have their place in the chain.

Sometimes the finest craftsmanship comes down to the tiniest details. 😉

The forge has been improved! Northern Maille has upgraded from 925 sterling silver earwires to titanium earwires for our earrings.

🛡️ Why titanium?
Titanium is widely considered the gold standard for sensitive ears thanks to its excellent biocompatibility and low risk of allergic reactions.

⚒️ What does this mean for you?
Despite upgrading to a more expensive material, there will be NO increase in our earring prices! You’ll get the benefit of this upgrade without paying a single coin more.

While no earwire material can guarantee a 100% reaction-free experience for everyone, I’ve taken another step to reduce the risk of irritation as much as I possibly can.

Your comfort matters, and I’m always looking for ways to make Northern Maille’s handmade creations better for the warriors who wear them.

⚔️ A Thank You to a Few Good Neighbors! ⚔️

Every now and then, someone reminds you that the world is a little smaller and a little friendlier than you might think.

A huge thank-you to Ashley Burdick and her team at Ashley Burdick - State Farm Insurance Agent in Rice Lake! They saw the newspaper article about Northern Maille and sent me a “You’re Kind of a Big Deal” card, along with the actual newspaper clippings!

That little gesture meant a lot to me. When you're a small business owner, you spend countless hours making your products, setting up at markets, and trying to build something of your own. It's pretty special when people take the time to recognize that effort and celebrate a little victory with you.

It's one of the reasons I love having locally based insurance agents and supporting local businesses. You're not just another name on a screen or a number in a system. You're part of a community, and sometimes that means people go out of their way to cheer you on, even when they don't have to.

Around here, being a good neighbor still means something. And that's worth more than a chest full of silver!

From my little corner of the realm, thank you, Ashley and the whole team, for the thoughtful surprise and the encouragement. It put a smile on my face and reminded me why supporting the people who support our local community matters so much.

⚒️ A Brief Respite for the Mailler! ⚒️

The forge is still burning, but Northern Maille is taking a little time away from the market trail!

After a busy season of markets, it's time to restock the wares, craft some new treasures, and prepare for the next gathering. I'll be taking a short break from markets, but fear not, fellow travelers! Northern Maille shall return to the market trail in November! 🛡️

In the meantime, if you're looking for an adventure this weekend, make your way to Cedar Mall in Cedar Mall at Rice Lake for the Fall Craft and Vendor Market! 🍂

There are plenty of talented makers, crafters, and small businesses gathering to share their wares. Stop by, explore their booths, find yourself a treasure or two, and show these hardworking folks some support. Every purchase helps keep a small business's forge burning bright!

Speaking of supporting fellow makers, the wife and I just stocked up on goodies from Conoboy Soaps! 🧼⚔️ It's always a good feeling to support other small businesses and bring home something made with care. Be sure to keep an eye out for their wares, too!

I may be off the market trail for a spell, but there are still plenty of merchants ready to welcome you this weekend. Go forth and support your local makers!

⚒️ Another order forged ring by ring and ready to sail!

A hearty thank-you to this returning customer for placing another order with Northern Maille! This time, the order was for 50 handmade chainmail cross keychains, each crafted ring by ring and now packed up for its journey to its new home.

Every order that comes my way helps keep the forge fires burning, and having customers return for more is an honor I don't take lightly. Your support helps this small business grow stronger with every passing season!
