Workshop Wednesday šŸ› ļø

Just a quick update from the shop this week.

The vanity has a new side panel and it’s ready for the finish. We are also working on a few custom wood letters.

I am loving the new booth layout. Still have to add a couple shelves on the back walls but it’s looking much better. Y’all be sure to put Hwy 425 Marketplace on your thrift list. I saw some good stuff while I was browsing today.

Got in a little booth work this evening. It’s coming along and I’m ready to have it all styled for my favorite season.

Not every work session goes as planned.

This side panel put up more of a fight than I expected, but after a break (and a little help from my voluntold helper), it’s finally off.

One last fix… then it’s time to choose the finish.

Part 2 is done!

I don’t love using a paint stripper, but sometimes it’s the best tool for the job. On this piece , all the grooves and details made it the easiest way to get back to the wood.

The paint is mostly gone, and we’re one step closer to the finish line. We know it’s staying a beautiful neutral wood tone. Next, we decide if it will it be a stain or a paint wash?

Well… I finally did it. šŸ˜…

I said I wanted to start sharing more of the process instead of just the finished piece, so here’s my first furniture makeover video.

This custom piece is getting stripped back to a lighter natural wood finish, and I thought I’d bring y’all along for the journey.

Thanks for sticking with me while I figure this video thing out.

A couple of recently completed custom pieces. ā¤ļø

I love working on pieces that have history and special meaning. Hearing the stories behind them is one of my favorite parts.

I was a little nervous when the only instruction for the cedar fish was, ā€œDifferent shades of blue.ā€ Instead of painting it solid, I let some of the natural wood peek through the finish. Seeing how much she loved it made my day.

Thanks for trusting me with your special pieces.

This Louisiana heat is tough!

We’re slowly winning the battle against the bamboo and brush so we can move on to painting the brick.

If you’ve got someone working outside this week, check on ā€˜em. Better yet… show up with a cold drink and a fan. They’ll probably love you forever.

Does anyone else spend more time looking for the thing you know you own than actually working on the project? šŸ˜‚

Finally found my upholstery supplies so I could get back to these chairs.
