Good pal and global Carondelet Pickups ambassador Jonathon "Boogie" Long just released this killer pro vid from the Baton Rouge Blues Festival earlier this year.
That's Boog's signature Carondelet "Boogiebuckers" (vintage Alnico 4 underwinds under raw nickel covers); in his New Orleans-made hollow aluminum Mercury Labs Guitars double-cut.

Small World Saturday: Carondelet artists Sam Bam Koltun (Godsmack) and TRACII GUNS (L.A. Guns) are across-the-street neighbors.
Here's a peek and listen into what happens when their touring schedules align and they are home at the same time.
That's Sam at Tracii's place, test-driving Tracii's "diver" graphic Friedman superstrat (loaded with a double white Carondelet Secret Sauce) ... into a custom Marshall-inspired amplifier Tracii finished building this week (TFG's homebrew amps are BADASS!).
Sam and Godsmack resume touring at Rocklahoma next week. Tracii and LAG's next run begins in Europe in October.

Carondelet trivia for GibSunday ...

When voicing our hybrid magnet do-all Carondelet Dreambuckers a few years ago ... this Candlebox hit from the early 1990s was my go-to reference tones for testing and refining prototypes.

"Far Behind" showcases all a humbucker player wants and needs. Shimmering liquid cleans, authoritative yet articulate chords, singing throaty leads. Musical in the ears, articulate in the hands, resonant against the ribs. Not just prominent but 3D-like in a mix, whether a live setting or on tape.

Fast forward to now ... Carondelet's most visible and vocal Dreambuckers ambassador is - you guessed it - Peter Klett of Candlebox. He's also become a close friend. Talk about a date with destiny.

String Theory:

From the first K&F electric lap steels of the late 1940s to Fender's first solidbody electric guitars a few years later, all of Leo Fender's early uncovered pickups had coils wrapped in cotton string.

The twine layer protected the delicate coil's hair-thin copper wire; helped the coil hold its shape over time; and provided a grippy external surface for retaining a wax protective shell during the pickup potting process.

But why cotton string? Because it was effective, it was cheap, and in Leo Fender's case, it was readily available.

Leo was a radio repairman in the 1930s and 1940s before he delved into musical instruments. Radios of the era used cotton string in various capacities, from dial/tuner, inductor and transformer assemblies to bundling wire runs inside the unit.
