At the Shoup House we offer an outstanding selection of antiques, country finds and collectibles, furniture and primitives all attractively displayed in this wonderful house. The Shoup House was built in an area which was part of a 700-acre land grant given to John Tipton in 1829 for his services in the Battle of Tippecanoe. Tipton later sold parcels of land to a group of men who wanted to establish the town of Battle Ground. In 1859, Emmanuel and Mary Shoup purchased a section of the land and built a home overlooking Burnett's Creek. A descendant of Emmanuel and Mary, General David M. Shoup (1904-1983) was a Commandant of the U.S. Marine Corps who was awarded a World War II Medal of Honor. Built in 1860, the Shoup House reflects the Italianate and Greek Revival architecture of the 1850s. Located in what is now Battle Ground, Indiana, the Shoup House retains its architectural integrity from the period and is now home Shoup House Antiques & Interiors.
