The Minnesota North Shore Drive Waterfalls Road Trip takes you to visit 10 of the state's most stunning waterfalls, all located along the beautiful Lake Superior shoreline:
📍Beaver River Falls
📍Cascade Falls
📍Gooseberry Falls
📍Illgen Falls
📍Caribou Falls
📍High Falls
📍Glenn Avon Falls
📍Cross River Falls
📍Hidden Falls
📍Fall River Waterfall
This 91-mile adventure follows Highway 61, with sweeping lake views and several state parks between stops. Beaver River Falls is an easy roadside cascade in Beaver Bay, while Cascade Falls rushes through a dark volcanic gorge. Gooseberry Falls delivers famous Upper, Middle, and Lower Falls, and the Gooseberry River drops 240 feet while crossing the park. Illgen Falls makes a powerful 40-foot plunge on the Baptism River, and nearby Caribou Falls waits at the end of a short forest hike. High Falls in Tettegouche State Park is the tallest waterfall located completely within Minnesota. Glenn Avon Falls spreads across a broad, rocky stretch of the Beaver River, while Cross River Falls tumbles directly beneath Highway 61 in Schroeder. Hidden Falls appears within the narrow Temperance River gorge, reached from a short paved path. The final stop, Fall River Waterfall, drops near Lake Superior just outside Grand Marais. With only about two hours of driving, this trip leaves plenty of time for overlooks, trails, photos, and moments beside the water.
