"Unstable Footing" by Tod Leben.
I was fortunate enough to receive a preview copy of a new engaging collection of poems which will be available for purchase on October 15th 2024.
The new poem book "Unstable Footing" by Tod Leben is a pathway through poetry. When you start to read it you begin to realize the author is summoning you on a journey. If you think you will just sit by your fireplace while sipping your mead and casually read a collection of poems you will be mistaken. From the first page you will be an active participant in a grouping of poems with narrative connective tissue.
"Entitled" is the first poem and it's as if a wizard of yore or a rebellious citizen of a long ago land is requesting your services for the greater good. A compelling opening that starts our journey. I particularly love the book's structure of emotional peaks and valleys culminating in a more wise understanding of self. Some of my favorite entries are "What is Hope?", "Can I Offer You a Cup?", "Step Up", "Vorel Irthos", "The Archer Readies", and "Questions".
"Unstable Footing " by Tod Leben shows you hope in the face of adversity. The unstable footing challenges us to move forward.
