How Hawaiian Shave Ice Started
Did you know Hawaiian shave ice has roots that go back to Japan?
In the early 1900s, Japanese immigrants brought a tradition called kakigōri to Hawaii shave ice topped with sweet syrups.
Local workers began using tools to shave ice from large blocks, creating the light, fluffy texture we know today.
Over time, Hawaiian flavors and toppings were added, turning it into a beloved island treat.
Here at Ohana Hau Shave Ice we use the exact same Tradition with our House Made Ingredients.
