The South End of Long Beach Island’s complete surf and paddleboard outfitter, a family-owned an operated shop with knowledgeable staff, selling quality surfboards, paddleboards, gear and apparel with surf lessons, kids surf camps, and SUP ecotours. Hero’s Weekend is back this September! 🇺🇸

We’re proud to host our 2nd Annual Hero’s Weekend in partnership with Alpha Wave and Semper Fi, a nonprofit organization dedicated to reducing isolation among veterans and first responders by building community through empowering experiences.

Last year, thanks to your incredible support, we raised over $17,000 and welcomed 30 veterans for a weekend filled with surfing, yoga, connection, and unforgettable memories🏄🏼‍♂️ This year, we’re aiming even higher with a goal of $24,000. Every donation helps make this life-changing weekend possible and gives us the opportunity to serve those who have served us.

Meet Kath, Aiden, and James—three of our surf instructors who were part of South End’s very first Leadership Development Internship! 🏄🏼‍♂️🌞

Kath (University of San Diego), Aiden (San Diego State University), and James (Northeastern University) have each been part of the South End crew for years, helping create unforgettable memories for our customers both on the water and in the shop.

Designed by Echelon Front, the program includes online leadership training modules, the New York Times bestselling book Extreme Ownership, leadership workbooks, and other resources focused on developing effective leadership skills and strategies.

Throughout the program, these three have been applying what they’ve learned to strengthen our customer experience, support team development, and improve our operating procedures. We’re excited to watch them continue using these skills well beyond the summer and the surf shop.

We’re incredibly proud to invest in Kath, Aiden, and James, and even prouder of the growth they’ve already shown. They’re the first of many team members we hope to put through this program!

What a weekend! We spent it surfing, paddle boarding, checking out awesome new arrivals, and enjoying live music outside the shop 🤙🏼
