Slowly getting up…

It’s been an on-going journey and it’s only the beginning, but here goes…

Since retirement, I’ve had a lot of time to myself due to life. The plan hit the fan and I had to readjust. Only this time, I wasn’t prepared. No training, NOTHING. And honestly… like I would lie and defeat the purpose of writing this… there is no “one size fits all” solution for everyday life and that’s the way I like it.

Aside from deep breathing, closing my eyes, and meds, I’ve picked up a new “tool” for the toolbox: Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), bilateral stimulation, binaural beats… but not the kind that’s “calming” or “relaxing.”

Something with a little more edge.
Something more like me and my personality.
A bit chaotic, loud, fun, exciting… and somehow still gets the job done.

EMDR: The left-to-right movement is thought to help “unlock” stuck traumatic memories, allowing them to move from the emotional part of the brain to more logical processing areas.

For some people it’s eye movement.
For me, it’s my ears, music, imagination, and memories.
