Main Street Beaufort has been designated as a 2026 Affiliate Main Street America Program!

This national recognition reflects our continued commitment to strengthening Downtown Beaufort through community-driven revitalization, historic preservation, business support, and placemaking efforts.

Main Street Beaufort is proud to be one of just 453 Affiliate Main Street America programs nationwide and part of a network of more than 1,600 communities working to create vibrant downtown districts across the country.

This designation recognizes the hard work and dedication of our volunteers, business owners, community partners, city staff, and everyone who helps make Downtown Beaufort a special place to live, work, shop, dine, and visit.

As South Carolina's oldest continuously operating Main Street program, we remain committed to preserving Beaufort's historic character while supporting economic vitality and creating opportunities for future growth.

This week, Main Street Beaufort attended the quarterly South Carolina Main Street training in Greenwood. These trainings provide valuable opportunities to connect with peers from across the state, exchange ideas, and learn new approaches to downtown revitalization, economic development, and community engagement.

During the training, Sarah Sutton shared how she utilizes the Main Street America Academy for professional development and was recently recognized as one of the Academy's top users for her commitment to ongoing learning.

Opportunities like these help Main Street Beaufort bring fresh perspectives, innovative ideas, and proven strategies back to our community. By learning from the successes and challenges of other Main Street programs, we can continue strengthening downtown Beaufort and supporting the businesses, residents, and visitors who make it such a special place.

Last week, Main Street Beaufort and the City of Beaufort welcomed business owners, property owners, residents, community organizations, and stakeholders to a series of meetings and a public input session as part of the Downtown Plan process with Studio Main.

These conversations provided valuable feedback on topics including walkability, beautification, wayfinding, public spaces, parking, lighting, and the overall downtown experience. The ideas, concerns, and aspirations shared will help guide the development of a long-term vision for downtown Beaufort.

Thank you to everyone who took the time to attend, share feedback, and be part of the conversation. Your input is helping shape a stronger, more vibrant downtown for residents, businesses, and visitors alike.
