Dear Little Book Trailer,
You were never supposed to become this important.
You were supposed to be an experiment.
A tiny bookstore on wheels. A way to share stories, meet readers, and see what might happen.
Instead, you became proof.
Proof that people still love bookstores.
Proof that community matters.
Proof that conversations between strangers can begin with a single book.
Over the past year, you've traveled to festivals, markets, and events throughout the Lowcountry. You've introduced us to fellow book lovers, local authors, and so many wonderful people who believed in this dream long before it had a permanent address.
And because of that support, something exciting is happening.
After this weekend's Lavender Festival, The Booktique will be taking a well-earned summer nap.
Partly because Lowcountry summers are hot enough to melt even the best intentions and partly because we've got some behind-the-scenes work to do.
The next chapter may involve walls...and shelves.
Perhaps a reading chair or two.
Maybe a bell above a door.
And a place where stories can linger a little longer.
Where conversations don't have to end when the festival closes.
Where rainy afternoons, unexpected discoveries, and favorite books can all find a home.
Before anyone worries, this isn't goodbye.
The Mobile Booktique isn't retiring - she's still a baby. She's simply heading off for a season of rest before returning for select festivals, markets, and special events in the fall and next spring. After all, adventures are part of who she is.
For now, we're simply turning the page and starting a new chapter.
Thank you for every conversation, every recommendation, every shared story, and every book you've helped find a home.
Love,
Amy
