We’re so thankful for all the hard work, dedication, and care she’s brought to our team over the years. Having someone who has been part of The Shutterbug for two decades is something truly special, and we’re so lucky to have her on our Eugene team!

We put LomoChrome Purple to the test at ISO 400, and honestly… this film does not care about keeping things realistic💜

Greens can shift towards purple, reds get more intense, and depending on the light, you can end up with everything from deep violet and magenta to cooler blue-green tones. Shooting it at 400 also tends to give the colors a darker, more saturated look than shooting at lower ISOs.

That’s what makes Purple so fun! You’re not loading a roll because you want predictable color — you’re loading it because you want to experiment.

Shoot foliage for dramatic color shifts, bright light for stronger punchier tones, and try shooting the same scenes at different ISOs just to see how much it changes the look!

Some cameras age. Some cameras become classics.

The RX1 was introduced with a pretty wild idea: put a 24.3MP 35mm full-frame sensor and a premium ZIESS Sonnar 35mm f/2 fixed lens into a genuinely compact camera body. That combination made it one of the most distinctive full-frame compacts of its time.

And here’s why photographers still talk about it today:
📸 Full-frame image quality in a tiny package
🔭 Fixed 35mm f/2 ZIESS Sonnar lens — a classic focal length for street photography, travel, everyday shooting, landscapes, and environmental portraits
🎛️ Dedicated physical controls for a more hands-on shooting experience
🤏 Small enough to actually take everywhere— which might be its biggest advantage!

Despite being and older camera, its lens, sensor, compact design, and image quality have aged remarkably well. Sony Alpha Universe even revisited the RX1 years after its release, noting that newer cameras had surpassed it in areas like autofocus and interface — but the combination that made the RX1 special remains compelling.

You’d think a CAMERA STORE would be better at remembering to capture content at our own events… 😂📸

But honestly? We get distracted.
By the people who walk through our doors. By the questions that somehow turn into 20-minute photography conversations. By helping someone try a few different lenses until we find the one that actually feels right. By talking film with someone who just shot their first roll by catching up with a familiar face we haven’t seen in a while.

And that’s kind of the point. ❤️

We love hosting photography events, photo walks, workshops, and community gatherings because they give us an excuse to meet the photographers who make our community so special — and talk cameras with people who get it.

So yes… sometimes we leave an event with approximately ONE usable clip!😅

But we usually leave with a whole lot of new conversations, new friends, and plenty of camera talk. And honestly, we’ll take that.

Which is why we can’t wait to meet everyone at our next photo walk!🌹
