Hard to believe it's only been a year since our first wedding as a collaborative design team!

For J&A's sweet end of August wedding day, we wanted the ceremony florals to look as if they had grown up the beautiful stone arch.

Instead of drawing the eye to the arch itself, we wanted it to become a complement to the gorgeous hydrangea garden surrounding it.

Elizabeth nailed the effect of creating something that looked as if it had always been there, with baskets that looked like an elevated farmers' market highlighting the aisle.

The result was a gorgeous design that carried through from the venue hydrangeas to the arch arrangements, the aisle markers, to the individual bouquets held by the wedding party.

What a lovely garden party celebration!

When we design, we see what we are creating through our own artistic lens.

At the concept stage this is wholly in our own minds and we have to figure out how to articulate it to each other so we can determine which of us is handling what parts, and what we need a team for, etc.

At the mockup stage it often looks like rough canva collages of rentals, scribble sketches of florals and greenery, and sometimes even less-recognizable shapes that we aren't even sure what they will be made from yet... just that those shapes need to be in THAT spot.

Every design item and floral stem is intentionally chosen and placed. There's no maximalism just for the sake of a lot of stuff - if it's maximal it is because that is what needs to happen to communicate this exact vision.

So after ALLLL of that braining and conceiving and building and dreaming... you hope that the photographer will be someone that steps in and sees your work for the art that you intend it to be!

Katy Weaver is exactly that person. She is absolutely gifted at photographing people and interactions and moments, and every bit as gifted at capturing what some might just see as inanimate objects... but is very much our artistic soul laid out on a dining table.

These are just a handful of her incredible work from our affectionately titled "mossy log wedding" earlier this year - and we are so honored and grateful for these photos!
