Today we celebrate the real backbone of West Virginia — the 9‑to‑5 crowd, the 60‑plus‑hour‑a‑week grinders, the coal miners heading out before sunrise, the skilled workers who keep our towns running, the truck drivers hauling America forward, the educators shaping the next generation, the nurses, clerks, mechanics, and every hardworking soul who keeps WV moving strong. We appreciate you.

Labor Day marks the unofficial end of summer, and we hope you enjoy the long weekend, soak up the last bit of sunshine, and stay safe while you celebrate.

Second Chance Pawn is closed today for Labor Day, but we’ll see you tomorrow at 10 AM.

🐾 Happy National Dog Day to our Mo. 🐾

Jamey may be the Pawn Star… but Mo is the Pawn King.

Every morning, Mo clocks in at Second Chance Pawn like he owns the building. He strolls through the door with confidence, wiggles into position, and begins his daily duties as the official shop dog, supervisor, greeter, and full‑time legend. He monitors customers with laser focus, watches every move, and sits proudly in his chair like a protective statue carved out of pure Boxer determination.

Mo loves the kids who come in to see him, and he has a few special people he has personally claimed as second owners. He enjoys the simple shop pleasures: bitt scratches, belly rubs, straw papers, ice, waffle fries, and any treat he believes he earned just by showing up.

And even though he is scheduled to stay until six, Mo has decided he is a strict 9 to 5 employee. In true Dolly Parton spirit, he’s “workin’ 9 to 5,” giving it his all and then heading out the moment mom arrives. Mo sets the schedule. Everyone else adjusts.

He is the heart of the shop, the comfort in the chaos, the laugh in the long days, and the shadow that never leaves your side. Our whole workday revolves around him, and honestly, we wouldn’t have it any other way.

Running a small, family‑owned business is a blessing, but it also means long days, late nights, and not many chances to slow down. Every now and then, even small business families need to step away, breathe, and take a little vacation so we can come back refreshed and ready to serve you.

We will be closed July 27 through July 31 for a much‑needed family break. Any pawn due during that week will be automatically extended an extra week. No worries, no stress. We’ve got you covered.

We’re closed today to celebrate the land we love and the freedoms that make this country great. As we mark 250 years of independence, we’re reminded how blessed we are to live in a nation built on courage, faith, and unity.
