I lit a 24 hour Yarzheit candle on this my Mom Susie's birthday. Every Rosh Ashanah she would bake covered apple pies and raspberry jam, raisin, walnut and cinnimon Russian cookie strudel – all with the same dough... not a flaky dough. More like a sugar cookie dough. It was my Grandma Esther's recipe (who was from Yekatrinislav, Russia. She fled there during a pogrom and her first child, my Aunt Frances, was born on the boat coming over. She would use a handful of this and that, so my Mom codified it into cups and tablespoons. My Aunt Norma told me that when she would walk through town with he laundry on her head, men stopped what they were doing to watch... I knew her as a cute, Kosher Grandma (I only saw once a year if that) who'd face would light up like the sun when she looked up from saying the Sabbath blessing with her head covered with lace.

After more that 2 dozen years, I finally got my darn Flood Song on Youtube so BACK TO WORK! I have to finish "Butterflies for Rosie" before my second knee replacement on 10.28 (My 'ole jalopy keeps needing replacement parts - does yours?!!!)
