It’s a steady race to get all the tasks complete and things are moving fast.
Dahlia fencing is down and put away, winter berry has been harvested, compost has been spread, field has been tilled, and the first load of winter greens have been picked up and hauled to the farm!
Probably the last night of the pumpkins as we get ready to change for the spruce top pot season.

Join Mary from Rustic Designs Flower Farm for a fall flower arranging class at Foxhole Brewhouse in Willmar.

**Tuesday, November 24 at 6:00 pm**
The class lasts about an hour.
**Cost: $60** — includes one drink token

You’ll create your own arrangement in a wood box, using button mums, cremones, carnations, solidago, seeded eucalyptus, and agonis — a warm, textured mix of fall blooms and foliage in burgundy, rust, and gold.

It makes a perfect Thanksgiving centerpiece for your table, or a thoughtful hostess gift for whoever’s hosting this year.

After 11 years as a member, I made the decision to become a lifetime member of the Association of Specialty Cut Flower Growers.

I started this farm back in 2011, growing specialty cut flowers here in central Minnesota. Over the years, what I’ve learned is that growing flowers isn’t something you figure out alone. It’s the growers who share what worked, what didn’t, and what’s worth trying next. It’s the research, the seed trials, and the quarterly newsletter with other farmers who are out in the field doing the same work.

That’s why I joined the ASCFG, and why I decided to make it lifetime -plus I plan on doing this for the rest of my lifetime.

This is about believing in locally grown flowers, in farmers helping farmers, and in this industry having a strong future. I want to keep learning, keep growing better flowers, and keep being part of a community that cares about doing this work well — season after season.

I’m proud to be a lifetime member! Here’s to many more seasons of beautiful, locally grown flowers. 🌸

Day 2 and 3 of the big dahlia dig!
Last Friday morning we finished up with the big dig!
My mom came over to help by trimming down the stalks for storage. Alvin insisted that he came over to help before the rain started, so he and Jan continued digging and Trudy continued washing!
I am so thankful that we pushed it hard before the rain hit. Later in the afternoon, I was able to start packing up the tubers and move them to storage.
Transferring to storage continued on the morning of day 3. Now the tubers rest here until we find time to divide.
Tubers will be available for purchase in Mid-March!

The greenhouse is stocked with so many dried flowers for our wreath class tomorrow! Class is full for tomorrow but there still are a few spots available for the Sunday afternoon class! It’s going to be a fun weekend! Can’t wait to see what everyone creates!

Day one of the big dahlia dig! Today we were blessed with an extra helper! Jan brought her husband with! It was great to have him join us on this big first day!
Current plan is to finish digging tomorrow and continue on trimming down the stalks on the tubers. Then let them dry a bit and put into storage. Goal is to have them in storage by Monday evening.
I am so thankful for the beautiful weather! This is the first time that I have left the tubers outside for the night. It’s going to be a nice night and they should be fine. Plus, the cats are on night patrol! 🐈‍⬛ 🐈‍⬛ 🐈

Flower club deliveries went out today! I haven’t made pumpkin arrangements in a few years! They were fun but a bit nerve wreaking driving around with a delivery van full of them! Just had one roll over on me. Guess I took a turn a little too fast!
