Adding a few cozy fall touches to the bedroom to celebrate October 🍂… and stepping outside my usual neutral palette with a lot more color this year. 🤎

A mustard-yellow throw at the foot of the bed, a basket filled with an extra quilt for those chilly fall nights, and three quilts already layered on the bed—because you just never know how cool an October night might get. 😉🍁

And, of course, my sweet “Fallelujah” pillow from , which feels right at home tucked into all the cozy layers.

I’m honestly loving all this color! There’s just something about the warm autumn tones that makes our new bedroom feel even cozier and more inviting for the season. 🤎🍂

There’s just something about October at the cottage. The crisp air, the changing leaves, the cozy corners, and all those little vintage treasures that seem to feel even more special this time of year. 🤎

Looking back at these moments from last fall and feeling that familiar pull toward all the simple things I love most about this season—old things with stories, warm cups of coffee, flowers gathered from the garden, and a home that feels like it’s giving you a little hug when you walk through the door.

And now, here we are again… October. 🍁

A new season, a few more memories to make, and plenty of cozy days ahead at Rose Cottage.

Enjoying this cloudy day, slowing down, and reminiscing on the little things that make my heart happy. 🤍

Like this beautiful ironstone pitcher my husband gifted me. I have so many, yet he still picked one up for me, simply because he knows how much I love them. And the gorgeous pink roses from my daughter-in-law and bonus son for Rose Cottage’s grand opening. It’s the thoughtful little things that mean the most, and I’m feeling all the love. 🥰
And that big black crow perched nearby? 🐦‍⬛ That was a little something I picked up for my husband this past weekend! It’s carved from solid wood and weighs a good 3–4 pounds. 🖤

Just a little reminder to slow down, appreciate the thoughtful gestures, and find joy in the simple things. These are the moments I want to hold close. 🤍🌿

As we open the doors to Rose Cottage, I want to share some of the wonderful history this little cottage holds.

The house was built in 1938 and is only 864 square feet. My husband’s great-grandparents lived here, and so many family memories were made within these little walls.

The following photographs are absolutely priceless to me, and I’ll be looking for more to share with you as I find them.

In these photos, you’ll see my husband’s great-grandmother feeding the chickens in the yard—I especially love this one. 🐔❤️

You’ll see his great-grandmother, grandfather and his mom, Rose, sitting together on the porch. This photo dates back to 1968, and Rose was pregnant with my husband in this picture. 🤍

You’ll see his Busha tending the garden, a photo of my husband as a baby with his grandparents and aunt, and snapshots of the cottage in the 1960s—before it had siding, when the outside was still cedar.

And then there’s Rose, in her garden behind the cottage, and in the kitchen. 🤍

And that is where the name comes from. Rose Cottage was named in honor of my mother-in-law, Rose. 🌹

There is something so special about seeing the people who loved this little house long before I ever dreamed of making it into Rose Cottage.

In a way, this little cottage brings together pieces of the people and stories that came before us, while beginning a brand-new chapter of its own.
I love thinking about all this little house has witnessed since 1938—generations of ordinary days, family gathered together, gardens tended, babies growing, seasons changing and memories being made.

And now, it gets to welcome a whole new generation through its doors.

I feel so blessed to be the one helping this little cottage tell its next story. 🌹🏡

Some homes hold things.
Some hold memories.
And some generations. 🤍
