I can spend a lot longer than I should looking at an old large cent. Our November 7 Bid Board has an 1824/2 Coronet large cent, an 1851 Braided Hair large cent, and a few other pieces that make you stop and think about where they’ve been.

There are 63 lots on this board! You’re welcome to come into the Bellingham shop now, look things over, and place a bid.

The live close is Saturday, November 7. If you want to keep bidding on a lot during that close, you need to be here and have already placed a bid on it.

This is the kind of coin that immediately makes you look twice—a 1920 Buffalo Nickel struck approximately 20% off-center, certified by NGC as a genuine Mint Error with UNC Details.

The misaligned strike leaves a dramatic portion of the planchet completely unstruck while still retaining the date and the instantly recognizable Buffalo Nickel design. Errors from this era have a completely different appeal than their modern counterparts—this one escaped the U.S. Mint more than a century ago.

This 1887-P Morgan Silver Dollar, graded PCGS MS64, is an absolute eye-catcher.

The reverse is the star of the show, with gorgeous natural-looking color sweeping across the fields and around the eagle—gold, amber, bronze, and subtle rainbow hues that explode when the light hits it. Flip it over and you still have a sharp, lustrous Mint State Morgan with the classic look collectors love.

🚨🪙 NOW THIS is a Mint Error.

At first glance it looks like a Lincoln Cent… then you notice Thomas Jefferson underneath Lincoln. This is a seriously cool 1983-P Double Denomination Mint Error, certified by PCGS MS64RB.

This error occurred when a previously struck 1983 Lincoln Cent was struck again by Jefferson Nickel dies, creating design elements from two completely different denominations on the same coin.

The result is wild. Lincoln and Jefferson overlap dramatically on the obverse, while the reverse shows Monticello struck directly over the Lincoln Memorial design. You can clearly see elements of both coins competing for space.

Despite the noted cleaning, this coin has something you simply don’t see every day on an early U.S. copper: uncirculated-level detail. Liberty’s hair, the stars, denticles, and reverse wreath remain remarkably well defined.

American Historic Coins & Collectibles is in Pittsburgh, PA for the ANA World’s Fair of Money!

We’ve been spending our time walking the bourse, connecting with collectors and dealers from across the country, and—most importantly—loading up on new inventory to bring back to the shop.

Events like the World’s Fair of Money are a great reminder that coin collecting is alive and thriving. The knowledge, history, passion, and camaraderie throughout this hobby are incredible to see firsthand.
