Ok everyone, something pretty big to me is happening this weekend. I'm fishing my 1st bigger tournament this upcoming weekend on Sunday. I'll be fishing the Twisted Cat Outdoors Burlington Iowa tournament with Joseph Kugel. We're heading doesn't Saturday morning. We're going to do a little scouting when we get down there and get a game plan in place for the tournament on Sunday. We've never fished down there so it's all new water for us but if we know one thing, we know how to catch catfish and we're going to give it everything we have. We'll be using Catch The Fever Zakk Royce Edition medium-light rods for this tournament since it's mainly channel catfish and you need to be able to see the slightest little bite when it's tournament time. They'll be paired with 4REEL Fishing peg floats and Nocturnal Nation Catfishing Hooks. And if the river lets us, we'll be pulling Alpha Boardz. We want to thank everyone for the continued support. Well, last night Tim Breeden and I headed out on a new stretch of river in the flatcat and it paid off. Started out slow. Tim got a few smaller channels around 5lbs each. We were about to call it an early night and all of a sudden my bait started acting up. That's usually a sign that there's a predator close by so we stayed put. Then there was that classic takedown and the line started going sideways. We both said , yep he's on lol I reeled down to set the Nocturnal Nation Catfishing Hooks hook and it was on. Drag peeling, Catch The Fever hellcat revenge rod folded over, the battle was one. It was man against fish and I wasn't losing this fight. Got it to the boat and saw it was a good hookset and Tim got it in the net and the battle was won. Once in the boat I got my gloves on from 4REEL Fishing to get the hook out and get a weight and a few pictures before making a release video. After releasing the fish we decided to give it another hour or so and called it a night around 2:30am. Got home around 4am and I'm back up and running lol got a few dr appointments today for little sully. Next stop for Joseph Kugel and I is the Twisted Cat Outdoors Burlington Iowa tournament. We both super excited for this upcoming tournament. It's time to sign off and get ready for this day. Remember folks, just when you're ready to throw in the towel, give it a little more time. CUSTOMER: "How much will it cost for a day of guiding 2 people?
Guide: "$400 Dollars."

CUSTOMER: "That's WAY too expensive for the day!!"
Guide: "How much do YOU think it should cost?"

CUSTOMER: "No more than $300 Dollars - MAX!
Guide: "I can't justify my time for that."

CUSTOMER: "Guides like you are so greedy."
Guide: "Sorry you feel that way. Why don't you go out fishing by yourself?"

CUSTOMER: "I've never fished that lake before."
Guide: "For $200 Dollars, I'll show you exactly where to go.

CUSTOMER: "Deal!! Let's do it."
Guide: Make sure you have three way rigs, 3” twister tails, jigs, a few heddon blade baits,the right rods and reels and plenty of crawlers and creek chubs. The fish are biting so make sure you have at least 6 dozen crawlers and a couple dozen creek chubs."

CUSTOMER: "But I don't have all that stuff and I can't buy all of that stuff for just one day on the water."
Guide: "Well for another $100 more I'll let you borrow a few things... and you'll still be saving $100 Dollars."

CUSTOMER: "That's not a great deal? Ok, whatever we will still go.
Guide: "Make sure you have your boat full of $5 per gallon gas, some days you have to drive a long ways to get on the fish."

CUSTOMER: "Wait. I don't have a boat."
Guide: "Sorry, I don't let anyone rent my boat insurance premiums are high.

CUSTOMER: "Okay!! I'll try find a boat to use."
Guide: "Yeah...let me know when you find one.

CUSTOMER: Let me know when we can go so you can hook up the boat I find, because I don't have a truck to pull it."
"Guide: "I guess I don't know what to tell you, I have other groups I'll be guiding. Do you have someone that could help you load and unload a boat?"

CUSTOMER: "Ummm... ya I dont know... I've been thinking. It's probably best if we just hire you to guide us. I'd rather pay someone who has everything, knows where to fish, and keep it easy on us rather than go through all the hassle.
Guide: "Smart move, sign this contract and we will find a date to get out and enjoy a day on the water."

Took a trip to a new river over the weekend to do some sandbar camping with Joseph Kugel and Tim Breeden to chase some flatheads and it paid off. Started off slow. Joe caught a little flathead on a worm. Seems like he can't go a trip without catching 1 on a worm lol then around midnight all we heard was drag screaming with no stopping in sight. Joe's Catch The Fever hellcat was folded. He got to it and I netted his PB flathead weighing in at just over 41lbs. A little while later tim doubled up on 2 flatheads. Got one in and lost the 2nd one which looked to be in the 30lb range. Tim also got a nice 13 lb channel cat. We got up in the morning and one of my rods was slightly bent over like it was caught in a snag so I started to bring it in and there was a nice little 10-12lb flathead on it all tangled in a tree branch. Tim helped get it unraveled and got a picture before releasing it.
