The Kansas Garden Show will be held at the Expocentre in Topeka this weekend. It will be a great way to experience Spring a month early. Come by our booth, we will have castings, worms, worm bins a lot of kids gardening tools and many other things to get you started on the garden. Friday and Saturday 10 am - 8 pm. Sunday 11 am - 5pm.

Welcome to all our new friends, glad you like us! Just finished spraying all my fruit trees with "Worm Tea", to give them a nutritional boost and discourage the pests. This could be the best year I've ever had for fruit.

Here's the recipe:


INGREDIENTS: 3 cups non-chlorinated water

1 cup castings

Allow tap water to stand overnight to let the chlorine evaporate . Mix well. Periodically shake to dissolve the castings and to aerate the tea. (Oxygen in the water keeps the microbes alive.) Not all the castings will dissolve, leaving the remainder for one more batch. Sift through a coffee filter into a spray bottle. Use within 2 days.

This was just some seeds tossed into a pot about 4 years ago. The pot spent last summer sitting on my patio, just lots of green strappy foliage with a few caterpillar bites. I brought it into the porch for the winter but didn't pay any special attention to it. A couple of weeks ago I was watering and OMG! there were stems coming up. There are 12 flowers in this picture and one more stem is about to bloom. This is the beautiful result of neglect.
