Grab your broomsticks, round up your house, and start planning those floats because applications are NOW OPEN for the 2026 Hog Fest Parade!🐗🏰

This year's theme is HOGWARTS, and we want to see Ben Wheeler get creative! Whether you're a business, school, organization, family, club, church, first responder group, or just a bunch of friends with an idea, we want YOU in the parade!

And there are some pretty good reasons to go all out… 👀

Homemade Cornbread Mix in a Jar

This easy homemade cornbread mix is a money-saver and tastes even better than the little blue box! Prep a few jars at once and you’ll always have fresh cornbread ready in minutes.

Cornbread Mix (per Quart Jar)
* 1 cup + 1 Tbsp all-purpose flour
* 1 cup yellow cornmeal
* 4 Tbsp sugar
* 2 Tbsp baking powder
* 1 tsp salt

To Bake (makes one 8x8 pan or 8–10 muffins):
* 1 jar of cornbread mix
* 2 eggs
* ⅔ cup milk

Instructions for Mix
1. Layer or mix the dry ingredients in a clean quart mason jar.
2. Seal tightly and label with instructions. Store in a cool, dry pantry.

To Bake
1. Preheat oven to 400°F. Grease an 8x8 pan or muffin tin.
2. In a bowl, whisk together the eggs and milk.
3. Add the entire jar of dry mix and stir just until combined (do not overmix).
4. Pour into prepared pan or muffin cups.
5. Bake 20–25 minutes (pan) or 15–18 minutes (muffins) until golden and a toothpick comes out clean.

This mix is perfect for busy mornings, chili nights, or whenever you crave fresh cornbread. One jar equals about 2 boxes of the store-bought stuff — at a fraction of the cost!
