Weeks before an FKT attempt on Corsica's famous GR20, lost her dear friend, Kalie, to the mountains.

Kalie planned to help pace Hillary.

Rather than give up her attempt in the face of this insurmountable loss, Hillary went to Corsica to run the 180km route, carrying Kalie's memory and philosophy of living life through all its highs and lows.

Hillary's endeavor began as a record attempt, but with the help of a supportive crew, evolved into a celebration of a friend and the power of perseverance in human adventure.

Kalie said, "The only way forward is forward." And Hillary pushed through fatigue, grief, and muscle ache to finish in 38 hours, 42 minutes—the second-fastest female time on the GR20.

“What a perfect weekend and the perfect way to end our Rätikon season for this year!"

This summer, BD Athletes and completed two of Europe's hardest multi-pitch routes in Switzerland's Rätikon, famous for its technical climbing, big runouts and bullet limestone.

Babsi and Jacopo started the summer working the then unrepeated Déjà (8c+/5.14c).

"We both wanted to climb every pitch on lead, meaning that one person would climb while the other belayed, and then we would switch roles the next day," explains Jacopo.

After they made the second and third ascents of Déjà, Jacopo and Babsi were excited to stay and work on another legendary route that had been on their mind for years—WoGü (8c/5.14b).

"So, our summer routine continued… Not much changed, except for the route." Jacopo says. "A quick hike-and-fly in the morning at home, driving to the Rätikon in the early afternoon and starting to climb in the evening, as it was way too hot before. We always finished by headlamp. This had definitely become our happy place this summer."

After several weeks of work, they both redpointed WoGü in late August.

"We knew we could do it, but we didn’t expect to both climb it back-to-back, and on our first redpoint attempts!"
