Hey Everyone! Just popping in for a quick update. My back continues to heal - I can tell because the pain is diminishing. I'm still on strict movement restrictions. However, I'm hopeful they'll be relaxed in the near future. I see my spinal surgeon this Friday (6/19) for a check up. I've been told it's 3 months to heal this fracture; I'm at 2.5 months this coming Saturday. To say I'm excited to get back to my life is an understatement.

On a positive, my energy level is returning to my pre-pneumonia/bronchitis levels and I'm feeling more and more like my normal self. I can actually keep my head off the pillow after 830pm, lol. I am back to walking at least 2 miles a day with a few 3 milers sprinkled in during the week. This past weekend was the FIRST weekend since last fall that I was outside most of the time puttering about!

I have gotten in a few new pieces to try out - some light weight jackets with hoods. These come in two colors - black and graphite (deep gray). These jackets are by Independent Trading Company, which is the company that provides my super-soft loose-fitting hoodie sweatshirts. I'm super excited about these pieces. They are a bit pricier but they are gorgeous, in my opinion.

For these pieces, the embroidered design will sit on the right breast instead of the typical left breast placement. There's a nice zippy pocket where you could stash your sunglasses or house key. What I love most is the weight and sturdy feel of this jacket.

I realize we're heading into the hottest parts of summer, so maybe a soft shell coat isn't at the top of your list. I know I'll love this one come those cooler September mornings! It's similar to the hoodless softshell from Port Authority that I've carried.

I am hoping to start embroidering in July - assuming I get the go ahead to start bending, twisting, stretching, and bearing weight. It's amazing how hard it to NOT perform these movements. Simple tasks like emptying the dishwasher have become my most challenging ones!

I am looking forward to having this fracture complete healed so I can get back to my life and enjoy the last half of the year (holy cow, how did we get almost half way through 2026???).

Thanks to all who have checked in on my progress.

Let me know what you think of this style jacket.

Just an update on the 14 year GRLS design - it is currently paused due to an unexpected back injury (compression fracture at L1, oops...there goes MY pickleball career). It happened just as I hit 100% after the pneumonia/bronchitis in Feb/Mar.

It's been a long year and we're only 5 months in! Hopefully, I'll be able to launch something by June, for July shipping.

In the meantime, tell me what type of pieces you'd like to see this new design on! Design will have the option of with halo or without as we've still got a lot of senior Heroes out there!

I appreciate the understanding and patience!

Get ready… it’s almost here! 🐾✨

I just completed my first test stitch of the GRLS 14-Year Anniversary design—and I’m really excited about how it’s coming together!

As part of the process, I always do a test stitch on a fabric similar to what I’ll use in production. For this one, I grabbed a lightweight, stretchy long-sleeve knit jacket (Tek brand). Since my main goal was to evaluate the stitch design itself, I kept the setup simple—using two layers of tear-away stabilizer (the material used on the inside of the garment to support the stitching). Normally, I’d use a more structured, leave-in stabilizer, but this gave me a quick way to test performance.

Good news—I love how it turned out!
I did make one adjustment: the stars. The satin-style stitch felt a little too raised and prone to snagging, so I switched to a flatter stitch—similar to what’s used in the golden—which gives it a cleaner, more durable finish.

Next up: one more test run… after I give my trusty machine a little TLC. She’s due for some oil, a good dusting, and a bit of love before we get into production mode. 😊

About the design 💛

This piece started from my Angel concept. There will be two versions:

✨ Angel version (with halo)

🐾 Hero version (no halo)

The tagline: “Honoring Heroes – Inspiring Hope”

Every year, as we celebrate more and more birthdays—all of our Heroes now in double digits (11 is the youngest, I think!)—I feel an incredible sense of hope. Our thriving seniors may hold the key to understanding what helps them live longer, healthier lives compared to the heroes we’ve lost.

This design honors all of our heroes—past and present.

And the added line, “Together for the Goldens,” speaks directly to this amazing community. Fourteen years in, and we’re still here—supporting one another, celebrating the breed, grieving together, and building something truly special.

Once finalized, this design will be available on my usual garments—and maybe a few new ones, like the knit I shared earlier. 👀

My Port Authority 1/4" zip knit arrived. The best description is that it feels like a medium weight, stretchy knit. It reminds me of some of my Tek exercise jackets, but it's a slippery knit (polyester/ spandex blend) compared to my cotton pull overs and zip ups. I like it. Need to see how well it stitches, now!

Happy Almost-End-of-Winter everyone! Oh my goodness, it's been a bumpy start to 2026 for this old girl. This year started with 2 Celebration of Life services for two very loved people in my world - my Mother-in-Law, Evelyn and my dear friend, Bertha. After attending these two services, I ended up quite ill. Germs - who wants them, anyway!

For those who didn't know, I missed the better part of February as I contracted both Bronchitis and Pneumonia and went into acute hypoxemic respiratory distress (2/2). Suffice it to say, it's definitely left me a bit weaker after about 27 days of illness, steroids and antibiotics. But I am on the mend and ready to get back to embroidering a few select pieces.

Just as the rest of life was put on hold, so was my back Physical Therapy and exercise journey. That'll all start back up at the end of March as it's going to take me a bit to get myself back where I had been before I got so sick.

To give you an update on my designing - late last year, I actually put together my 2026 - 14 Year Anniversary design for our 3000 GRLS Hero pups. I need to test it out, still, but I'm confident it'll be a winner. Like my other designs, you'll have the opportunity to add your hero(es) name(s) and number(s). I'll likely get the my big girl machine turned on in the next week or so as I continue to recover from this double lung infection.

Here's one of the new pieces I'm entertaining for this new design. I am still looking for the jacket posted last year. Unfortunately, I found the sizing unacceptable on my typically reliable Port Authority jackets. I have no timeline on those at this time. What do you think of this quarter-zip knit ladies' pull over piece?

I think it looks great for a lighter cover up as we head into spring! Hoping to have something updated on the website by end of March. Feel free to nudge me along as I'm moving a bit slow these days.
