Hey Everyone! Just popping in for a quick update. My back continues to heal - I can tell because the pain is diminishing. I'm still on strict movement restrictions. However, I'm hopeful they'll be relaxed in the near future. I see my spinal surgeon this Friday (6/19) for a check up. I've been told it's 3 months to heal this fracture; I'm at 2.5 months this coming Saturday. To say I'm excited to get back to my life is an understatement.
On a positive, my energy level is returning to my pre-pneumonia/bronchitis levels and I'm feeling more and more like my normal self. I can actually keep my head off the pillow after 830pm, lol. I am back to walking at least 2 miles a day with a few 3 milers sprinkled in during the week. This past weekend was the FIRST weekend since last fall that I was outside most of the time puttering about!
I have gotten in a few new pieces to try out - some light weight jackets with hoods. These come in two colors - black and graphite (deep gray). These jackets are by Independent Trading Company, which is the company that provides my super-soft loose-fitting hoodie sweatshirts. I'm super excited about these pieces. They are a bit pricier but they are gorgeous, in my opinion.
For these pieces, the embroidered design will sit on the right breast instead of the typical left breast placement. There's a nice zippy pocket where you could stash your sunglasses or house key. What I love most is the weight and sturdy feel of this jacket.
I realize we're heading into the hottest parts of summer, so maybe a soft shell coat isn't at the top of your list. I know I'll love this one come those cooler September mornings! It's similar to the hoodless softshell from Port Authority that I've carried.
I am hoping to start embroidering in July - assuming I get the go ahead to start bending, twisting, stretching, and bearing weight. It's amazing how hard it to NOT perform these movements. Simple tasks like emptying the dishwasher have become my most challenging ones!
I am looking forward to having this fracture complete healed so I can get back to my life and enjoy the last half of the year (holy cow, how did we get almost half way through 2026???).
Thanks to all who have checked in on my progress.
Let me know what you think of this style jacket.
