We are sad to announce that on July 26, 2026 our dear friend and coworker Rex Carey passed away at 75.
A bird lover, appreciator of the fine arts, book enthusiast, and cat tolerator, Rex was and always will be a beloved part of the Builders Booksource family. He started his bookselling journey in the 80s at Books Unlimited. From there he moved to Cody’s Books, then Stacey’s Bookstore, then Books Inc., and finally he made his way home to Builders Booksource. We will miss his stories about growing up in San Francisco, his quips about the publishing world, and most of all his kindness and his never ending curiosity.
