Cotton shirtings are some of our favorite fabrics to find as designer deadstock! We snag these lightweight wovens whenever we can, because they're extremely versatile and perfect for everyday basics. A button-up shirt is an obvious pairing with crisp cotton shirtings, but this group is an even better fit for sweet patterns like the and the blouse. The colors in these fabrics coordinate beautifully, and make us want to create a mix-and-match version of the dress for autumn.

Don't miss these eye-catching cotton/linen fabrics from Ruby Star Society's Lofi collection! Many of our cotton/linens are sturdy midweights, but at about 3.8 ounces per square yard, these cotton/linens are lightweight, opaque sheeting suitable for button-up shirts, dresses, lightweight pants and skirts, and more. Make your garment your own by using a second Lofi print for your garment's details—think pockets, facings, cuffs, and more!

There's always something new at Stonemountain & Daughter, and one of the most exciting things is receiving a new batch of fabrics from one of our shop favorites! We are always delighted to see something new from Arounna Khounnoraj of ! Her new collection, Pathway, is printed on a lovely cotton/linen sheeting by of Japan. Bookhou's prints include hand-sketched motifs that are organic and abstract with a cozy and familiar feel. We have loved using previous Bookhou collections for handmade bags, and this group is absolutely perfect for apparel—the fabric is similar in weight to a shirting, with a lovely, subtle linen texture. Choose a few favorite prints to sew beautiful shirts, dresses, and lightweight skirts for fall.

We're anticipating a little warm weather before autumn arrives, so we'll start our sewing list with cool, crisp fabrics like cotton lawn and shirting. These fabrics are lightweight and tightly-woven, so they're ideal for warm summer nights. The pajama set is vintage-inspired and is perfect in classic cotton shirting. Button-up shirts are perfect for year-round wear: either on their own, over tanks and tees, or layered under sweaters. While the shirt-making process involves lots of careful cutting, pinning, and sewing, it's a great skill-building project for sewists of all skill levels, and it's so satisfying to make a button-up shirt that fits you perfectly. Now is the perfect time to start working on one to wear this fall!

While shirting is a popular fabric choice for button-up shirts like the , the , and the , there are so many amazing fabrics in our collection that will work wonderfully! Any woven fabric will work, but cotton wovens are a great place to start since they are stable, breathable, and easy to sew, wear, and care for. Look for fabrics in the light- to midweight range (about 1–7 ounces per square yard) like cotton block prints, yarn-dyes, dobby, oxford, sheeting, lawn, flannel, and more!

We currently have a small collection of five Notches patterns in stock, including two fun jackets just in time for fall (we introduced you to the other one yesterday!).
