Holiday Farm

Holiday Farm Holiday Farm is a small working farm. Our store sells locally grown and handmade items.

The farmstand is open from May to Christmas, but we are almost always available in our "off hours" if you call. We sell vegetables and fruits, homemade jams, jellies, dog biscuits and mustards, handmade soaps, lotions and lip balms, handmade baskets, original artwork, antiques and custom gift baskets. We also sell certain items and the money goes directly (and 100%!) to our local animal rescue.

Have You Heard about the Healthy Incentives Program?

If you have a SNAP card, you are automatically enrolled in the Healthy Incentives Program (HIP) in Massachusetts. You don’t have to enroll to receive your HIP benefits. Each month, your SNAP benefits also include HIP credit that can be used at participating MA farm stands and farmers markets. Local farms offer so many different varieties of produce, and it changes weekly! Using your HIP benefits is a great way to take advantage of all the fresh fruits and vegetables that local farms offer throughout the growing season.
When you purchase fruits, vegetables or seedlings from a HIP vendor, the purchase is deducted from your HIP credit on your EBT card, up to the amount available. The purchase does not get deducted from your SNAP benefit unless you have exceeded your HIP credit. If you are not sure of your credit amount, you can call the number on the back of your card, or ask your vendor to check the balance.
Here’s how the program works:
On the first of each month, the state puts a credit of $40, $60 or $80 on your SNAP EBT card. This credit can be used at participating farm stands and farmers markets in Massachusetts. Use DTAFinder.org to find your nearest participating farm. In Berlin, Holiday Farm is a SNAP & HIP vendor. Holiday Farm opens for the season on May 2 this year.
Only fresh vegetables, fresh fruits, and seedlings qualify for HIP purchase. Things like eggs, honey, bread, meats and milk do not qualify as HIP purchases, but do qualify as SNAP purchases.
As long as you have even one cent of balance left on your SNAP benefits, you can access your HIP credit for the month. For example, if you have $5 left of SNAP benefits on your EBT card, but you have $40 of HIP credit available, you can still purchase fresh produce up to $40 using your EBT card. So be sure to use all of your HIP credit before using all of your SNAP benefits.
The HIP credits are ā€œuse it or lose itā€ which means that it will not accumulate. Besides the changing variety of produce, this is one more reason to be sure to use your HIP credit each month!
