Founder’s Notes: Pressure is a privilege
From the desk of chirpyest and Colette | COCOCOZY founder, Colette Shelton
“Pressure is a privilege.”
I saw this quote from Billie Jean King while watching the U.S. Open, and it really stuck with me.
In business, we often think of pressure as something to escape. When things get hard, we wonder, “Why me?” or “How am I going to get through this?”
But pressure can also be a privilege.
It means you have something you care deeply about. You have an opportunity to work through a challenge, learn from it, and come out stronger on the other side.
We had a very pressure-filled period at Chirpyest this year, and while it certainly wasn’t easy, we made changes because of it. Looking back, the business is stronger because we were forced to address things that needed to change.
That’s the thing about pressure. You don’t always appreciate it while you’re in it.
But sometimes the hardest moments are the ones that make you better.
So when things get uncomfortable, remember: pressure is a privilege.
And champions adjust.
