**Founder’s Notes: A business without sales is a hobby**
From the desk of and founder, Colette Shelton
One of the biggest misconceptions in business today is that followers equal success.
They don’t.
Virality is great. Growing an audience is great. Building a personal brand is great. But none of those things automatically create a business.
At some point, someone has to sell.
Someone has to acquire customers. Someone has to build partnerships. Someone has to generate revenue. Without sales, business development, and customer acquisition, you don’t really have a business. You have a hobby.
I’ve seen founders spend months focused on content, followers, and engagement while spending very little time talking to customers, building relationships, or making the ask.
The reality is that businesses grow because they solve problems for customers who are willing to pay for that solution.
Followers can help. Virality can help. But sales keep the lights on.
💡 Save this for when you’re spending more time watching your follower count than talking to customers.
