Courtney Sheets is a self-taught mixed-media artist, former jewelry designer, and aspiring photographer. She grew up on a farm in Indiana, and attended the neighboring Purdue University on the Tippecanoe River, receiving B.A.’s in both Psychology and Advertising. She departed the Midwest immediately following graduation on many adventures that led her from coast to coast — West, East, South and th

en North. in Religious/Mythology Studies (feminist revision) from New College of California in San Francisco, she began her studio practice sculpting custom made pendants and digital lockets from sustainable wood with original drawings etched through lasers. Her jewelry business continued through 2014 when her focus turned more to photography, and she continues to work with collage and drawing in her art. Her diverse background includes time performing in a boutique high-end circus, intermittent stints as a guerrilla clown, collaborating on interactive sound installations for museum and art events, creating life-cast portraits; and designing and sculpting a one-of-a-kind line of jewelry. She currently resides in San Antonio, TX and has lived all over the country including most recently the North Shore of Boston, New York City, Tucson, San Francisco; and at an arts residency in the historic James Surls studio north of Houston.

A new recipe, a quite labor intensive one, omg…”Fatteh Batinjan,” is an explosion of textures and flavors featuring layers of crunchy pita, smoky roasted eggplant, chickpeas, yogurt tahini sauce, and sprinkled with pomegranate seeds, roasted pine nuts and parsley. Taken from Padma’s All American cookbook. It is so delicious. ♥️

So fun to cook again and try a new recipe…this is mushroom tacos campesinos with spicy coleslaw from Padma Lakshmi’s All American. Inspired by a chef from El Paso, Emiliano Marenges. So satisfying. 💫✨

Courtney Wynn Sheets is a self-taught mixed-media artist whose work spans photography, collage, drawing, small-scale sculpture, and painting. Her art is shaped by an engagement with impermanence, mythology, and embodied practices, and imprinted by a childhood on a small farm in northern Indiana and decades of movement across the U.S., including New England, New York City, Tucson, San Francisco, Portland, Maui, and now San Antonio, Texas.

She began her formal studio practice in 2007 while based in San Francisco and completing her M.A. in Archeo-Mythology (w/ an emphasis on women’s history), an interdisciplinary program focused on women’s roles in culture, art, and religion. This foundation continues to shape her work, which weaves historical research, personal stories, and contemporary social inquiry.

Her diverse background includes boutique circus performance, a custom jewelry collection, interactive sound installations, life-cast portraiture, and many years as a healing arts practitioner. As an end-of-life doula (), she keeps a closeness with death-positive studies that influence her artistic exploration of impermanence, the animal world, and the fragile boundaries between the wild and the civilized.

She is based in San Antonio, where she works out of South Side Living and Maker Spaces, co-operates Space C7 () gallery, and curates Outrider Art + Objects () a female-centered platform supporting underrepresented artists and outriders of all stripe

Some of us went on a night walk on the river from last night at the end of the show. We heard all sorts of water birds, ducks and frogs communicating from the shadows, and had some insightful conversation about what it means to walk at night for many of us, especially as women. Thank you for capturing this magic, ! ✨✨✨✨✨✨✨
