Cleopatra, the seventh queen of Egypt, & the last pharaoh of Ancient Egypt committed su***de at the age of 39 after burying Antony and meeting with the victorious Octavian, Cleopatra closed herself in her chamber with two of her female servants. The means of her death is uncertain, but Plutarch and other writers advanced the theory that she used a poisonous snake known as the asp, a symbol of divine royalty, to commit su***de at age 39. According to her wishes, Cleopatra’s body was buried with Antony’s

Cleopatra herself, appearing on a bronze unit struck c.32-31 BC. Antony appears on the other side, in his typical, brutish form. These base metal pieces often survive in very poor, corroded condition. This example is excellent, boasting strong detail on pleasing metal.
