If someone tells you that time flies, believe them. It was May 1976 when I walked into W.T. King’s wood shop in Bluff Park, Alabama asking for a job. I was 17 years old at the time. I never dreamed I would get this old. I really can’t say that I can’t believe it’s been 50 years, because I can. That’s 50 long cold winters and 50 very hot summers. If you asked me, if I would do it all over again, the answer would probably be yes. I’ve always said that people who love nice furniture and those that are interested in woodworking are some of the best people. Having been blessed to finish up my woodworking career by being in the lumber business is something that words can describe. I am very grateful. My God is faithful. I don’t believe I am ready to sign up for another 50 years, but I am hopeful to do this for as long as I can.
Oh, by the way, we will be closed Monday, May 25. Have a safe and happy Memorial Day!
Here at Avondale, hardwood lumber is what we do.
