The contrast ratio of a display measures how bright the whites are compared to the darkest blacks. A higher contrast ratio means deeper shadows, richer colors, and sharper images.
🎥 Why It Matters:
- A high contrast ratio (like 10,000:1) makes movies and presentations pop.
- A low contrast ratio (like 500:1) makes screens look dull and grayish, especially in bright rooms.
✅ How to Get Better Contrast:
- Choose a display with deeper blacks (OLED screens have the best natural contrast).
- Adjust ambient lighting—too much light washes out the image.
- Look for HDR (High Dynamic Range), which enhances bright and dark details.
Contrast ratio affects perceived image quality more than resolution does! A high-quality 1080p screen with deep blacks often looks better than a low-quality 4K screen with poor contrast.
