Behind every bag of Humble Acres Organics compost is a commitment to doing things the right way.

This is our Midwest Bio Systems compost turner, one of the most important pieces of equipment on our farm. While it may be sitting still in the video, it plays a critical role in producing the high quality compost our customers count on.

Properly turning compost windrows helps create the conditions needed for an even, consistent composting process. That attention to detail is part of how we produce our USDA Certified Organic compost, giving gardeners, homeowners, landscapers, and farmers confidence in every bag.

Quality compost doesn’t happen by accident. It takes time, the right equipment, and a commitment to proven composting practices from start to finish.

When a customer has trusted your products year after year, it means everything.

Ashley and Matt of Kindlewood Farms in Walterboro, SC have been using Humble Acres Organics products for six years without fail, and we’re incredibly grateful to be a small part of their success. Their family farm has grown from a couple of raised beds into a thriving sustainable vegetable operation producing more than 40 varieties of fresh, nutrient dense vegetables for Lowcountry families and local markets.

Steam rolling off a freshly turned row — that’s the good kind of hot mess.

This is what active composting looks like, y’all.

To meet USDA National Organic Program standards, our windrow compost has to hit a temperature between 131°F and 170°F for 15 straight days, and we have to turn it a minimum of five times during that period. That’s part of the official spec for composted plant and animal manures under organic regulations — it’s not just for show, that heat is what kills off w**d seeds and pathogens while the good microbes go to work building real soil.

Every time we turn a row and you see that v***r pour off, that’s proof the process is working exactly like it’s supposed to. Nothing fancy, just nature (and a little USDA paperwork) doing what it does best.
