Your water heater has a part inside it that’s designed to wear out so your tank doesn’t.💧

It’s called the anode rod, and its job is to help protect the inside of your water heater from rust and corrosion. Over time, the rod gets used up—and once it’s depleted, your tank can become more vulnerable to corrosion.

Having your anode rod inspected and replaced when needed can help protect your water heater and potentially extend the life of the tank.

It’s Working With Wymond Wednesday! 🔧🔥

Turning the furnace on for the first time this season and notice a smell?

A light dusty or “burning dust” smell can be pretty normal at first. Dust settles on the furnace and inside the ductwork during the warmer months, and you may notice it briefly when the heat starts running again.

But some smells deserve more attention.

If you notice a strong electrical or melting plastic smell, a persistent burning odor, or the smell of gas, shut the system down and have it checked out.

The big takeaway from Wymond this week: know what’s normal, and don’t ignore a smell that seems unusual or doesn’t go away.

A little awareness now can help you feel a lot more comfortable when heating season gets underway. 🏡
