The past 24 hours have been pretty rough here at the gin. We’ve seen lots of posts, comments, calls and texts asking about the fire so we’re making this post so it’s no confusion about what happened. Yesterday morning about 7:00 we discovered a round module in the middle of our module yard that contained fire in it. We belive that it came in from the field with fire from a picker. Before we could get water to it in a matter of seconds fire engulfed the module spreading to 150-175 other round modules in less than 10 minutes. This definitely something that no gin ever wants to see, but it could have been much worse, and most importantly no one was hurt and all went home safe. We are proud of, and thankful for all our employees, especially those who dove in and worked diligently moving modules with trucks and equipment in order to isolate the fire and stop it from spreading. Much appreciation to the Blakely Fire Department for helping us keep the fire contained. Also a big thank you to our neighbors at Cloverleaf Gin in Donalsonville for sending a couple trucks to help us out when we needed it most. The gin is up and running today while we get our module yard back into order so that we may start back hauling cotton first of next week. If any producers need anything over the weekend please reach out to Jackson and he’ll do anything he can to assist you.

Early county Gin is accepting applications for warehouse forklift drivers. Applicants must have working knowledge of forklifts, and have a dependable way to work. Forklift experience preferred. Applications can be picked up at our office in person Monday -Thursday from 8:00-4:00.
