As the owner of The Shops at Blanchard Town Square as well as several other business and lastly an ICU nurse in okc for 16 years.
Over the years Iāve experienced taking care of and encountering āHomelessā individuals for many reasons. Personally & Professionally.
However, at the building there have been many instances that have shocked me right in my own hometown of going on 40 years. Some are long time residents even high school acquaintances or just transient people.
I believe we as a community could help.
We could set a standard of how to help others āclose to usā and use knowledge and resources within.
As in our religious leader, school leaders, business leadersā¦.. really everyone in our community who owns a home would feel like a leader to them. None too big, None too small.
All this to say I believe we could come together as a community and put together a program that would have a place for individuals to go in seek of shelter firstā¦. No where to go, but not being about reform at that point. Just rest, food, & love.
However, there are those who abuse the helpā¦. So comes the leadersā¦. Those who take emotion out and set the goals to met the appropriate needsā¦.
The place canāt be around children or familiesā¦. But needs to be available.
We never know their background but should still help.
