Why Lyme fatigue hits so hard
That bone-deep exhaustion isn’t in your head, and it isn’t weakness.
One tick bite isn’t one infection. A single tick can carry several organisms at once — Borrelia, Babesia, Bartonella, Anaplasma, and more. Your immune system doesn’t fight them one at a time. It fights all of them, at once, continuously.
That nonstop immune activation is what drains you. The chemical messengers your body releases to fight infection are the same ones that flatten you during the flu — except in a flare, they don’t switch off. Your mitochondria, the part of every cell that actually produces energy, are trying to keep up with a demand that never lets up. The aching joints and muscles come from that same inflammatory load.Your body isn’t broken. It’s working overtime.
Which is why rest during a flare isn’t giving up. It’s strategy.
