Nettie Jarvis Antiques is one of the main attractions in historic downtown Bloomfield, Kentucky. We had a wonderful chance encounter with a lovely couple visiting from Quincy, Massachusetts. Nettie Jarvis was already closed for the day, but after meeting them, we couldn’t resist opening the doors and letting them explore. They ended up finding a few treasures to take home—but the real treasure of the evening was the connection that followed.

Thanks to Jenny and Tom Wigginton, Ian was able to learn more about his family tree and uncover pieces of his own history along the way.

What started as an unexpected visit turned into a fantastic evening filled with stories, history, new friendships, and a little bit of that Nettie Jarvis magic.

Ann and Ian, we absolutely loved having you. Enjoy the rest of your Kentucky stay, and we hope to see you for the JD Shelburne street concert here on Saturday!

Customer Experience & Sales
Welcome visitors with a friendly demeanor and answer questions about store inventory.
Share background information or history on featured items to engage customers and highlight piece value.
Assist customers with locating specific items.
Process sales transactions accurately using the Point of Sale (POS) system.

Inventory Management & Record Keeping
Receive & Log New Merchandise: Inspect incoming inventory and enter item details, descriptions, tags, and pricing into Microsoft Excel accurately.

Maintain Inventory Database: Keep stock records up-to-date by auditing physical inventory against Excel logs to reflect sales, moves, or holds.

Price & Tag Items: Create, attach, and verify price tags and inventory labels on new items before moving them to the sales floor.

Merchandising & Store Care
Maintain clean store conditions: light dusting of fragile inventory, sweeping, wiping glass display cases, and keeping walkways clear.
Ensure proper security, wrapping, and care for delicate or high-value items.

Packing & Logistics
Carefully wrap, pack, and protect fragile glass, porcelain, art, and collectibles at checkout.
