It appears scammers are using our product "wind a yarn ball for you" to test stolen credit card numbers to see if they work. The charge is only $1.99, so if that goes through, it signals to the scammers that they can buy bigger things.
It's lame.
We are doing our best to flag the orders as a scam and then canceling the orders. IF ANYONE sees a $1.99 charge from Rebel Purl LLC that you did NOT spend:
1) Freeze your credit https://www.usa.gov/credit-freeze. This keeps scammers from opening up credit lines or loans.
2) Contact your bank and dispute the unknown charges. Ask your bank what options there are for freezing your account, getting new debit and credit cards, and how long the dispute process is.
3) Set up text alerts for purchases on all of your accounts. This way you can see them in real time!
4) If you can, use cash for two weeks so you can easily see what is purchased from your account.
How do you know if it was a purchase or a scammer? You email us at [email protected] and we send you your receipt for the purchase.
We are so sorry to everyone impacted by these scams. It can be really scary when you are in that situation. We are doing everything we can to shut these orders down as fast as they come in.
