Old House Society Since 1979, we’ve provided education, resources, and advocacy for historic preservation in McLean County.

Our architectural salvage warehouse rescues and rehomes vintage building materials from homes and buildings slated for demolition. Our Mission is to recognize, promote, and provide education and resources for the preservation of old homes, buildings, and neighborhoods in our community for present and future generations.

We are excited to announce our 2026 Old House Society Membership Renewal Campaign!! We are welcoming our friends and supporters to take advantage of our membership renewal campaign.

Your membership ensures we continue to provide lovingly salvaged architectural elements sourced locally, for redistribution to homeowners throughout the Midwest and beyond. Your membership also helps us sustain the mission to provide opportunities to learn and build skills through our rich library of books and other resources, and workshops.

We encourage you to join the Old House Society at one of the following levels:

👩‍🔧Individual - $50 (10% discount on all goods, all the time, special additional discounts on Member Day)

🏠Household - $75 (all the above and a special OHS work apron for holding all those tools)

🛠️Patron - $200 (all the above, and 2 tickets to the annual Tour of Homes)

All work is being done at 214 Douglas St, Bloomington, IL 61701 - all we need is you. No need to sign up, just show up. Power tools welcome.

Operation PROJECT WEEKENDS

Sept 19-20
🛁Sideyard Cleanup - 10am - 1pm - if you're the type that loves big work and you are strong, come help us get some tubs, toilets, sinks and construction tiles in place - this is a 3 hour stint.
🏠Front of Store Beautification - 10am - 1pm - tentative timeslot - Pam Eaton is coordinating
🔢Tile Zone - 10am - 1pm - for those of you who prefer detailed work, counting, sorting, and arranging tiles might be the one for you.

"Breast of Show" Bra Build - to honor the people in our lives who've suffered breast cancer, we're going to join the Ft Jesse Imaging Center's fundraiser. Come laugh, love and decorate - we have the materials, you bring the fun.

Sept 26-27

🪟Think Pink Window Display 5pm-7pm - we're getting ready to kick off Breast Cancer Awareness Month with a pink ceramic display. Come join us for some zany fun setting up pink toilets, sinks, tiles and a tub.

After careful consideration, we regret to announce that this year’s Old House Society Tour of Homes on June 13 will not take place due to a variety of circumstances.

We remain grateful for the community’s continued enthusiasm and support, and we look forward to welcoming historic home enthusiasts back for a future tour at a date yet to be announced.
