Last year we delivered seedless bales all over the Metro and heard from so many of you how much easier it was than hauling them yourself.

𝗜’𝘃𝗲 𝗯𝗲𝗲𝗻 𝗾𝘂𝗶𝗲𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝗻 𝘂𝘀𝘂𝗮𝗹, and I wanted you to hear why from me.

This spring I 𝗹𝗼𝘀𝘁 𝗺𝘆 𝗺𝗼𝗺 𝘀𝘂𝗱𝗱𝗲𝗻𝗹𝘆. She was my best friend, my comrade, and a real part of Bloomington Farm & Feed. She helped deliver chicks, worked the warehouse, and jumped in on deliveries. Some of you already knew. For those who didn’t, this is why I, the 𝗳𝗼𝘂𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗿, have been so quiet.

A loss like that can stop a small family business. I had so much I wanted to share and just didn’t have the words or mental energy yet.

If Kourtney our Operations Manager, has been the face at your door (and the one who has replied to your emails), please know 𝘀𝗵𝗲 𝗵𝗮𝘀 𝗵𝗲𝗹𝗱 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝗯𝘂𝘀𝗶𝗻𝗲𝘀𝘀 𝘁𝗼𝗴𝗲𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿. She has taken the reins with so much care for all of you while my family and I have been learning how to live this new life and heal. Thank her if you see her.

Some of you know 𝘄𝗵𝘆 𝗕𝗙𝗙 𝗲𝘅𝗶𝘀𝘁𝘀. Two days before Christmas, a few years ago, my husband was hit by a car while helping a woman who had spun out in a frozen snowstorm. He was hospitalized and partially paralyzed. In that recovery, while he was learning how to walk again with a broken back, I realized the good mill feed backyard farmers want is often an hour or more outside the metro, which I wasn't able to go get during his hospital stay. So we built 𝗻𝗲𝘅𝘁-𝗱𝗮𝘆 𝗱𝗲𝗹𝗶𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘆 from our warehouse to your door — an Instacart for backyard farmers.

We turned a hard season into a service for our neighbors. That is still the heart of this business.

If you knew my mom, you can hear her: love me through it, then 𝗴𝗲𝘁 𝗴𝗼𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝗹𝗶𝗳𝗲. So this is me saying hello again.

𝗪𝗲 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗹𝗹 𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗲. We’ve added more to the website. I have more products, goals, and helpful content to share. Thank you for trusting this family-owned business and for being patient while we kept delivering.

🇺🇸 Memorial Day Hours & Delivery Update 🇺🇸

Bloomington Farm & Feed will be closed on Monday, May 25th for Memorial Day.

Orders normally scheduled for Monday delivery will arrive on Tuesday, May 26th instead.

We hope you have a wonderful holiday weekend!

A common issue when folks have chicks wasting feed is that the feeders are not set at the correct height. Perhaps this PK 360 Infographic will help.

Flock Sitting MN has an educational poultry keeping class coming up soon! 🗓️

Some cities like Minneapolis and Richfield require residents to take a poultry class before being allowed to own fluffy butts in you backyard, and this class will satisfy that requirement.

Not to mention it’s good training for all seasons of flock keeping so we recommend taking the class regardless 😉

Flock Sitting MN is hosting a Backyard Fowl Class in-person on Saturday, May 30th at 12:30pm. This class satisfies the education requirement for Minneapolis and surrounding municipalities.

We are hosting the class outside at our home in Richfield and will cover a number of topics including biosecurity, city ordinances, predator-proofing, health/wellness, chicken/duck breeds (and flock dynamics), anatomy, feed, egg-related issues, costs, and a number of other topics. You will also have the chance to meet our flock of chickens and ducks, tour their coop and learn in a hands-on environment!

Class is from 12:30 - 2:30pm and costs $35.
