RECORD STORE TOUR #3: this is the last collection of record stores we visited on our cross country trip in May. We added so many amazing records to our collection, and picked up so many neat ideas about how to make the best record store in all the world.
1. Twist & Shout Records, Denver - vast, well organized, and equal parts CDs and vinyl. I was especially impressed that they still have a DVD room, a tropical fish tank, and that they love dance and electronic music so much that there's a color coded system (give me all the Euro Disco, pretty please)
2. Good Vibes Vinyl, Kansas City - let me start with THEY HAVE A STORE CAT! If you need any other reason to go there, they're super nice, have a great selection for a little store, and down with the LGBTQ community.
3. Vintage Vinyl, St. Louis - I didn't love this store, it seemed like an insane person organized it and it was swarming with obnoxious tourists who don't actually buy records, but Nick loved the stuff he found there.
4. Luna Music, Indianapolis - the best smelling record store I've ever been in, smelled like a fancy hotel lobby. They have a well curated stock, and lots of cool store merch including their own walkmen and discmen.
5. Attic Records, Pittsburgh - we've been here before and love the super cramped aisles which are shockingly well organized. The staff are super friendly, and it's in a very old school neighborhood.
6. Jerry's Records, Pittsburgh - if you want something weird, go to Jerry's. They are extremely well organized and helpful. There's a separate room for CDs and DVDs and the largest collection of laser discs I've ever seen in my life, which includes when laser discs were new.
