🔧 Tip Tuesday — Your Firearm Has Feelings Too (Sort Of)

If your firearm could talk, it would probably say something like:
“Hey… maybe don’t shove me in a dusty range bag for six months and then act surprised when I’m cranky.”

A little routine care goes a long way.

Keep It Clean
Carbon buildup is basically your gun’s version of a bad mood.
A quick cleaning keeps everything running smooth.

Feed It Good Ammo
Cheap ammo is like gas‑station sushi.
Sure, it might work… but do you really want to risk it.

Check Your Gear
Loose screws, worn springs, tired magazines — they all add up.
A 30‑second once‑over can prevent a whole lot of “why isn’t this working.”

🧙‍♂️ Tip Tuesday

Malfunctions aren’t fixed by luck or wishful thinking.

Relying on “it won't malfunction” is not an effective strategy. Tap‑Rack‑Bang remains an effective immediate‑action drill.

However, consistent training on proper malfunction clearing ensures you can respond quickly, safely, and confidently when an issue occurs.

🔧 Bench Tool Spotlight — “What’s On the Workbench Today”

Today’s Bench Tool Spotlight: the humble torque driver.

Consistent torque = consistent performance. Whether it’s optics mounts, grip screws, or accessory hardware, proper torque keeps everything secure without over‑tightening.

What tool in your kit gets the most use?

🎯 Range Etiquette Reminder

Keeping the range safe and enjoyable is a team effort. Here are a few quick etiquette tips every shooter should know:

Respect the firing line — never step forward until the range is called cold

Keep muzzles pointed downrange — even when unloaded

Wait for all‑clear — don’t handle fi****ms during a cold range

Pick up your brass — helps keep the range clean and safe

Use ear and eye protection — every shot, every time

Be mindful of others — no rapid fire unless the range allows it

Range Etiquette 101: A safe range is a fun range. Thanks for helping keep things smooth, respectful, and safe for everyone.

🔧 Tip Tuesday #1 — The “Extractor Tension Check” Every Pistol Needs

A huge percentage of feed issues come from improper extractor tension, especially in 1911‑pattern guns.

A quick test: slide a dummy round under the extractor and shake the slide lightly. It should hold the round but not clamp it like a vise.

This takes 10 seconds and prevents a ton of “mystery malfunctions.”

🔧 Tip Tuesday #2 — The “Sharpie Sight Zero” Trick

Before drifting dovetail sights, mark the base of the sight and slide with a Sharpie.
As you tap, the witness mark shows exact movement, so you don’t overshoot and chase zero back and forth.

It’s simple, clean, and saves time on every handgun that comes across the bench.

“Witness marks = faster, cleaner sight work.”

🔩 Shop Tune‑Up Saturday — “Give Your Bench Tools a Quick Reset”

Shop Tune‑Up Saturday: Before you dive into weekend projects, take a minute to reset your bench tools — calipers, torque drivers, depth gauges, anything that relies on zeroing.

A fast re‑zero keeps your measurements honest, your fits cleaner, and your work consistent.
It’s one of those tiny habits that saves you from chasing problems that weren’t really problems.

Start the weekend dialed in.
