I have some exciting news to share...

After 14 wonderful years, JulieAnn Caramels is moving to a beautiful new facility in Springville, Utah!

This move is something I've been working toward for a long time, and I'm incredibly excited about what it means for the future of our company. We'll have more room to grow and the ability to obtain the certifications needed to bring JulieAnn Caramels to even more stores across the country.

I don't know if you all know this about me, but I've taken up quilting in my "spare time." 😂 That's right... spare time, because I have so much of it! The truth is, I have to sneak downstairs whenever I can and sew until my heart's content.

I absolutely love handmade quilts. They are so much more than pieces of fabric stitched together—they are works of art. I usually make two or three of the same quilt because by the time I finish the first one, I finally understand the techniques well enough to really enjoy making it.

There is so much thought that goes into every quilt. Choosing the colors, deciding on the placement, making sure every shape fits perfectly—it's like solving a beautiful puzzle. I honestly think quilting keeps your brain young because there is so much math and problem-solving involved.

One of the greatest blessings in this journey has been my dear friend, who is my teacher and mentor. There are about a dozen of us who quilt together, and she patiently encourages us every step of the way. To her, no quilt is ever too difficult. She has an incredible gift for taking confusing instructions and making them actually make sense. In fact, whenever I buy a new quilt pattern, my first thought is, "I can't wait for her to fix the instructions!" She laughs, but she really is that talented.

Quilting has become so much more than a hobby. It's a chance to slow down, relax, visit with wonderful friends, laugh until our sides hurt, learn something new, and create something beautiful with our own hands.

In a world that moves so fast, I'm grateful for a hobby that reminds me to enjoy the process, one stitch at a time. ❤️

A few weeks ago, I shared how excited I was about my meeting with Walmart. So many of you reached out, cheered me on, and asked how it went. I wanted to give you an update.

First, I want to say how grateful I am to the wonderful people I met with at Walmart. They were kind, encouraging, professional, and generous with their feedback. I truly enjoyed the experience and walked away having learned so much.

In the end, JulieAnn Caramels wasn't quite the right fit for where they are today—and that's okay.

One thing I've learned over the last 14 years is that getting a product onto grocery store shelves is about so much more than having a great product. There are distributors, category managers, third-party vendors, pricing structures, shelf space, logistics, margins, certifications, and countless other hurdles that have to line up. It's a complicated process, and every retailer has different requirements.

I don't look at this as a disappointment. I look at it as another step forward. Every meeting teaches me something new, every "not right now" gets me closer to the right opportunity, and every door I walk through makes me a better business owner.

I'm incredibly thankful for the chance to sit across the table from such talented people, share my story, and receive honest feedback. That experience alone was worth it.

Thank you to everyone who has supported JulieAnn Caramels along this journey. Your encouragement means more than you know. We aren't slowing down—we're continuing to grow, and I truly believe the right opportunities are still ahead.

Sometimes success isn't measured by getting the "yes." Sometimes it's measured by having the courage to walk into the room, learn everything you can, and keep moving forward.

It is hard to find the words.

My heart is broken over the loss of my dear friend, Katrina Long, and her beautiful family.

Katrina and I met through the Goldman Sachs 10,000 Small Businesses program, and I was blessed to get to know an incredible woman. She was one of the smartest businesswomen I have ever met. She was generous with her knowledge, always willing to share what she had learned, and she inspired so many people around her.

But what I will remember most wasn't just her success—it was her heart. She loved her family so deeply, and through her I had the privilege of getting to know them. They were adventurous, full of life, and always making memories together. One of my favorite memories was the amazing peach syrup she made from the peaches grown on her own trees. It was truly the best I have ever tasted, and every time I think of it, I'll think of her.

I don't have answers for why tragedies like this happen. I only know that the world lost an extraordinary woman, an incredible family, and that I lost a friend I loved very much.

Katrina, thank you for your friendship, your kindness, your wisdom, and the example you set for all of us. I will miss our conversations, your smile, and your unwavering belief that hard work and determination could make a difference.

Please keep the Long family, especially their daughter Lydia and everyone who loved them, in your prayers. They will be deeply missed, but they will never be forgotten.

Today is the day.

I can't believe it.

In just a little while, I'll be presenting JulieAnn Caramels to Walmart and Sam's Club. To be honest, I have butterflies in my stomach, and I've been praying they'll go away. ❤️

But I've also been reminding myself of something important: fear doesn't know the outcome. None of us do.

All we can do is prepare, show up, do our best, and trust that every experience has something to teach us.

Over the years, JulieAnn Caramels has been built one lesson at a time. There have been successes, setbacks, unexpected turns, and plenty of mistakes. Through it all, we've learned, grown, and kept moving forward.

So today, I'm choosing gratitude over fear and faith over worry.

No matter what happens, this is a moment worth celebrating.

As I prepare for a big opportunity tomorrow, I've been reminded of something important: we can't be afraid of what might happen because we don't know the outcome.

All we can do is our best.

Life and business are full of unknowns. There will be mistakes, challenges, successes, and lessons along the way. The key is to keep learning, keep growing, and keep moving forward.

I'm grateful for every experience that has brought me to this moment and for the opportunity to continue learning.

As I look at the week ahead, I'm feeling especially grateful for the journey that brought us here.

I've learned that every experience—both the hard ones and the wonderful ones—serves a purpose. Each challenge teaches us something. Each success reminds us to keep going. Every step is an opportunity to learn, grow, and become better.

Building a business has never been just about caramels. It's been about people, relationships, perseverance, and believing that good things can come from difficult beginnings.

Owning a small business right now feels exhausting.

Especially in the food industry.

Every day there are calls, emails, and promises from lending companies offering money you never even applied for. They promise solutions, growth, relief… only for you to discover there’s very little they can actually do that won’t put you deeper into stress and debt.

At the same time, government programs and loans are tied up in paperwork, waiting, red tape, and uncertainty while small business owners are trying to survive today.

Meanwhile rent keeps rising. Ingredients keep rising. Utilities, labor, insurance, packaging — everything costs more.

Small businesses are not asking for handouts. Most of us are simply trying to keep our doors open, keep people employed, and continue building something meaningful for our communities and families.

There comes a point where something has to give.

Behind every small business is a real person carrying enormous pressure that most people never see.

Still… we keep showing up.

Because small businesses are built on hope, grit, sacrifice, and people who refuse to quit even during hard seasons.
