I love to wander through flea markets, garage sales, & estate sales finding fabulous little things, little things unloved and lost, and then I polish them up, photograph them, and find them a new loving home. Herein you will find vintage and antique treasures, history, news, and every once in a while cute kittens as I wander the internet researching my vintage and antique treasures. I sell vintage

I haven’t posted here in months. In fact my shop is currently in vacation mode. Last year my life changed radically. I’m having difficulty maintaining a full time job and an online business. Particularly as what I’m doing when I’m not working is painting in pastels. This is my most recent piece. It’s inspired from a family photo from the Forties. You can check out my work at as well as my photos. Should I concentrate on art or keep up with the vintage? What do you think?

I don’t know about you but I find it very hard to keep up with social media. Here is an image from a slower, simpler time. For the folks back then a photograph was a precious keepsake. How many hundreds do you snap and forget each year?

This antique stereoview, distributed by Griffith & Griffith, is a photograph of a lively scene at the Sunday Morning Market, Ponce, Puerto Rico by M. H. Zahner, a Niagara Falls based photographer (listed as publisher on the card).

George W. Griffith was a major stereoscopic publisher who began his career as a canvasser for Underwood and Underwood. Forming his own company he became the publisher and distributor of views by photographers William H. Rau, H. L. Roberts, and M. H. Zahner of Niagara Falls. Eventually he had over 10,000 negatives of views all over the United States and other parts of the world.

Stereoviews were once produced in large quantities, a form of 3D entertainment and a way for people to see exotic or interesting locales far from home using a stereoscopic viewer - like the stereoscope. They are two nearly identical views photographed from a single stereoscope camera with two lens.
